Position Summary

Level: Solution Advisor

Work you’ll do:

  • You will assist in the delivery and management of all aspects of Software License Management, such as governance design, process definition, discovery, usage tracking, reporting, audit response, compliance validation, renewal, and cost recovery modelling.
  • You will assist in the occasional audit response projects, both internally and from Vendors, requiring good commercial awareness as well as subject matter depth.
  • You will assist with the software License Position assessment and development as part of a team on an Effective License Position (ELP) & 12 Month Renewal Plan for a considerable number of software contracts
  • Identifying cost savings and optimization opportunities for various software vendors.
  • Facilitate the adoption of technology-based tools and methodologies to continuously enhance the monitoring, management, and reliability of services.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and a pragmatic approach to delivering solutions that optimize architectural activities in alignment with organizational needs, business constraints, and technological realities.
  • Possess the skills and knowledge necessary to support sales activities within the domain of expertise.

Key Responsibilities for Software Licensing Professional:

  • Accurately delivery of Audit reports for multiple vendors, ideally for IBM, Microsoft, RedHat and additionally for Vmware, Broadcom and BlueYonder.
  • Interpret software license agreements to determine necessary compliance with licensing metrics for vendors including Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, and Oracle.
  • Ability to map licenses to contracts and entitlements for major vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe).
  • Delivery of information technology services including procurement, asset management and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of software licensing.
  • Knowledge of hardware and software hosting platforms which are commonly used to determine effective license consumption.
  • Ability to analyze data from common software discovery tools like ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow etc.
  • Analyze vendor licensing models and cost scenarios of alternative options to determine optimal licensing and deployment strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience managing software audits.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting an IT Asset Management Tool.
  • Knowledge of software license renewal process.
  • Skills to assess and solve complex problems, devise methodologies and solutions and perform analyses.
  • Ability to relate relevant information about hardware, software, their analyses and interpret results.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely form and express ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to interpret and present technical information and findings to varied audiences.

Key Responsibilities for CVA Professional:

  • Ability to evaluate client’s current licensing position, SAM maturity, tool health, and risk exposure before committing to any program.
  • Ability to accurately determine the consumption of IBM software with both system-generated and non-system generated reports (e.g. deployment snapshots) across all IBM Software deployed in a client’s enterprise.
  • Normalize discovered IBM software signature using historical knowledge and tools available on public domain.
  • Integrate with ILMT/Flexera & ServiceNow tools to collect usage and installation data.
  • Analyze data from common IBM software reporting tools like ILMT, Flexera & ServiceNow.
  • Perform gap analysis between installations and entitlements.
  • Develop license compliance and audit-ready reports.
  • Create accurate ASP reports in pre-determined CVA format maintained by IBM.
  • Manage IBM’s CVA portal from partner’s perspective and understanding Insights Dashboard, Enterprise Software Management (SW) and Contract Management.

Cyber Strategy & Transformation teams develop and transform cyber programs in line with a client's strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite. They keep the enterprise a step ahead of the evolving threat landscape and give stakeholders confidence in the organization's cyber posture. Services include the design of cyber organization, governance, and risk assessments. Services also encompass Cybersecurity Assessments and Frameworks, Cyber Transformation Management, Technology Software and Asset Compliance Management, Third Party Risk Management, Cyber Risk and Compliance, Solution Design and Implementation, and Cyber Risk Analytics and Quantification Reporting.

Qualifications:

Must Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:

  • 3 - 5 years of proven experience in License Management working in large corporate environment.
  • Proven abilities to manage server software licensing models and product use rights across major software vendors.
  • Experience in working with high-value software contracts with vendors such as Microsoft, IBM, Adobe, SAP and Oracle.
  • Strong understanding of Software licensing and specifically subscription licensing models and enterprise software contracts.
  • Hands-on experience managing licensing for Red Hat (RHEL/OpenShift/Ansible) or comparable infrastructure subscriptions would be preferable.
  • Experience working with IT asset management systems and IT asset discovery technologies.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and management.
  • Some experience in Cloud consumption management, ability to identify cost saving opportunities and optimization.
  • Enough technical understanding to support all licensing models.
  • Certifications such as CSAM, IBM Licensing Expert.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Hands on experience of ILMT Implementation, and BigFix inventory management.
  • Knowledge of software licensing for vendors.
  • Analysis of SAM tools like ILMT, Flexera, and ServiceNow.

Good to Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications: 

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think out of the box.
