Job Description:
Engagement Service Centers (ESCs) is a shared services group that provides dedicated administrative support to the Audit function. The group serve as hubs of highly skilled, dedicated resources that are available to support engagement teams and perform work in a variety of specific areas. Some of the services provided by ESC include Engagement Letter ESC (ELESC), Client Acceptance ESC (CAESC) and Independence Support ESC (ISESC). These activities, though non-audit in nature but are essential for completion of audit.
As a Senior Analyst of the ISESC, you will be responsible for assisting audit team with permissibility of services, reviewing engagement letters & analyzing scope of services raised by the members firms to ensure that the services are as per the provisions of AICPA, SEC, PCAOB and firm specific independence policies and monitoring approved services for compliance with regulatory rules and Deloitte independence policies. This also includes ensuring clients do not result in an Independence conflict.
As a part of this team, you will be involved with:
- Developing subject matter expertise on the Firms’ independence and related regulatory policies, guidance’s, templates and forms.
- Liaising with various member firms to ensure that the Independence policies & procedures are properly implemented for services submitted for partners’ approval.
- Working on Deloitte US Independence policies as well as mapping the scope of services provided to our clients to Deloitte Independence policies. Stay current with emerging issues impacting independence regulation and analyze the impact of matters impacting Firm processes, policies, and procedures.
- Assisting in running the necessary conflict and background checks required in the client acceptance procedures
- Coordinating and communicating with onshore/offshore teams involved in the completion of the acceptance procedures.
- Taking ownership for tasks and deliverables, with the ability to understand implications of findings, next steps and deadlines
- Providing regular updates (via emails/calls) to the US engagement teams about the progress of the assigned task.
- Ability to learn and understand the Deloitte guidelines and various templates
- Developing and enhance good relationship with U.S. engagement teams and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring the work performed is as per the quality standards of the Firm.
- Coaching, mentoring and providing on the job training to Associate Analysts and Analysts aligned with you, as needed and reviewing their work from time to time.
- Coordinating with Assistant Mangers and Managers for smooth client delivery.
- Suggesting process improvement initiatives, as and where relevant.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Basic knowledge and know-how of financial statements, basic accounting terminology and fundamental concept of audit committee.
- Problem solving and analyzing skills – Able to refer to and interpret appropriate Deloitte guidance.
- Attention to detail - Identify applicable contractual, legal and statutory requirements by reading through engagement letters and verifying the permissibility of the services based on Deloitte Independence guidance
· Time management - Ability to understand /define scope, timelines, and deliver on time and to closure
- Communication - Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Comfortable interacting with global team, especially over calls.
- Ability to accommodate and manage additional workload during busy seasons and assist team members.
· Ability to coordinate and work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously
- Advanced/expertise in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
- Pro-active and results oriented
Qualification/s:
- Graduation: B.com / BBA
- Professional qualification: Company Secretary/ Semi-qualified Company Secretary
Preferred:
- 1-2 years of related experience in professional or financial service organization / experience with compliance or regulatory role
- Familiarity with regulatory policies pertaining to securities markets and the PCAOB
- Prior experience in risk & compliance
Work Timings: 9AM – 6PM
