Assistant Manager – SAP XSA / HANA (HANA Native Development / Reporting & Integration)
Role Summary
The SAP XSA (SAP HANA Extended Application Services, Advanced Model) Developer at the Assistant Manager level with 7+ years of experience to lead design and delivery of cloud-native applications on SAP HANA XSA / SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). This role blends hands-on development with technical leadership, delivery governance, and stakeholder management.
This role partners closely with the Manager and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions on SAP HANA, supporting integration via SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) and analytics consumption through SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop XSA-native components (e.g., MTA projects, HDI containers, service bindings, modules, routes).
- Build and maintain data models and artifacts using HANA (calculation views, CDS/SQLScript where applicable), optimizing performance and security.
- Develop microservices and APIs using Node.js/Java (as applicable) and integrate with SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments for XSA/MTA (e.g., Jenkins/Azure DevOps/GitLab), including release and environment management.
- Enforce engineering standards: code reviews, branching strategy, unit/integration testing, quality gates, and documentation.
- Collaborate with functional teams and architects to translate requirements into robust technical solutions; drive estimation, planning, and execution.
- Lead technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis in lower/higher environments; ensure SLAs, stability, and observability.
- Mentor developers, manage work allocation, and contribute to team capability building and best practices.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years in SAP application development, with strong experience in SAP HANA XSA and HANA-native development.
• Proven experience with:
SAP HANA modeling and performance tuning (e.g., calc views, optimization techniques)
XSA concepts: MTA, XS Advanced runtime, HDI containers, user-provided services, destinations/service instances
SQL / SQLScript, data provisioning/integration patterns
REST APIs, authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth2/JWT/SAML concepts)
Version control (Git) and build/deploy automation
• Strong understanding of security (role design, privileges, data access controls) and environment management.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience (owning modules/workstreams, guiding junior engineers, stakeholder communication)
