SAP Technical Consultant (SAP ABAP on HANA + Gen AI), S/4HANA Tax (NSE)

Deloitte Tax Services India Private Limited commenced operations in June 2004. Work you’ll do

We are looking for an innovative Technical SAP ABAP on HANA, CDS, OData, RAP Plus Gen AI develop and implement systems architecture that meet business needs, along with ensuring that our clients’ can keep pace with the changing tax and legal landscape.

Design, build, and support performance SAP S/4HANA extensions and services using ABAP on HANA, RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), Core Data Services (CDS), and OData to enable modern Fiori/UI and integration scenarios.

To be successful in this role, you should be able to align the global Tax and Legal landscape with the business’ activities and proposed wider business processes. You will be the lynchpin between the Tax Function and IT Function, ensuring that we build the best SAP Tax design for the client. This will require the ability to explain complex terms to a variety of different stakeholders, and in a way that is relevant to each stakeholder group. You will also need to continually assess the SAP product suite and development roadmap to integrate any updated specifications and requirements into SAP system architecture.

You will also need to integrate with the wider client project team (whether that is delivered by Deloitte Consulting or another Systems Integration partner). This will involve an understanding of how the tax design interacts with other process flows and also the inter-personal skills to build the required relationships.

Key responsibilities -

ü  Develop and enhance ABAP solutions on SAP S/4HANA using clean, modular, and testable patterns.

ü  Build Gen AI applications and AI Agents.

ü  Code Python is a plus.

ü  Ability to navigate fragmented landscapes through API-calls and MCP- servers is key.

ü  Build end-to-end RAP artifacts (behavior definitions/implementations, validations, determinations, actions, draft handling, locking, authorization concepts).

ü  Create and optimize CDS views (interface/consumption views, associations, annotations) with strong focus on pushdown and performance.

ü  Design, expose, and support OData services (preferably OData V4 via RAP; maintain OData V4 where required).

ü  Implement Fiori-enablement via CDS annotations and support UI integration with SAP Fiori elements (as applicable).

ü  Integrate with SAP and non-SAP systems using SAP-recommended patterns (e.g., APIs, events, messaging where applicable).

ü  Apply performance tuning (SQL optimization, buffering strategy, ST05/SAT/SQLM analysis, CDS performance best practices).

ü  Follow SAP extensibility guidelines (in-app/extensibility, key-user vs developer extensibility, released APIs, clean-core approach where applicable).

ü  Produce technical designs, code documentation, unit tests, and participate in code reviews.

ü  Support testing cycles, defect triage, hyper care, and production support with strong root-cause analysis

Qualification and Experience Required

ü  Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience).

ü  2-5 years of Experience in SAP or SAP4HANA.

ü  Hands-on experience in building Gen AI applications, AI Agents.

ü  SAP Business AI certification is a plus.

ü  SAP certifications (ABAP for S/4HANA, RAP, BTP) are a plus.

ü  Strong hands-on experience with ABAP in SAP S/4HANA / ABAP on HANA environments.

ü  Proven delivery experience with:

ü  RAP (managed/unmanaged as needed, behavior implementation, draft, authorization)

ü  CDS (views, annotations, associations, table functions if needed)  

ü  OData service exposure and troubleshooting (RAP/OData V4 strongly preferred)

ü  Strong understanding of HANA-optimized development: SQL/CDS pushdown, avoiding SELECT-in-loops, efficient joins, pagination, etc.

ü  Familiarity with modern ABAP practices (e.g., ABAP OO, clean code, exception handling, unit testing mindset).

ü  Experience working in Agile delivery (user stories, estimation, sprint ceremonies).

ü  Preferred / Nice to Have

ü  SAP BTP exposure (e.g., Integration Suite, API Management, Event Mesh, ABAP environment/Steampunk—if relevant).

Preferred

ü BTP, Joule and SAP business AI certification.

ü Proven knowledge of Tax touchpoints within SAP.
