Specialist Deputy Manager, Pursuit Strategy

A pursuit specialist works closely with experienced pursuit managers, partners, and other pursuit professionals as a core member of the pursuit team in support of priority competitive opportunities with US-based clients.

The role focuses on writing compelling proposals with an original, persuasive voice, contributing to strategic messaging and client positioning, and editing proposal content from multiple sources. Depending upon the pursuit, the role may also involve coordination aspects of proposal and presentation development. Work you’ll do

As a Pursuit Specialist, you will use your skills and experience to:

Strategic management:
• Support the pursuit manager in developing, organizing, and managing proposal content and related collateral; manage contribution tracking, maintain version control, and own components across creative, technical, bios, and qualifications.
• Contribute to pursuit processes, including planning, win-theme inputs, proposal drafting, and preparation of materials for oral presentations.
• For lower-complexity or lower-fee pursuits, independently manage end-to-end pursuit execution under defined guidance.
• Collaborate with client service professionals to provide structured communication inputs and ensure alignment to pursuit strategy.
• Leverage approved GenAI tools to accelerate content development, synthesize inputs, and enhance consistency and quality across materials.
• Facilitate discussions, capture key insights, and distill action items to support pursuit progression.
• Contribute to the development of pursuit messaging and strategy, including preparing content, structuring narratives, and supporting meeting facilitation.
• Support competitive intelligence gathering and knowledge management efforts to inform pursuit messaging.
• Apply established best practices to encourage adoption of effective pursuit approaches and tools.

Teaming, collaboration, and leading (contributor with selective ownership):
• Demonstrate strong business acumen and professional presence in interactions with pursuit and client service teams.
• Build effective working relationships with client service professionals; support senior stakeholders in aligning to client priorities.
• Collaborate with pursuit managers and design professionals to deliver high-quality, brand-compliant proposals and presentations.
• Contribute to team effectiveness by actively coordinating across stakeholders and supporting alignment on deliverables and timelines.
• Provide informal guidance and support to junior team members, as applicable.
• For smaller pursuits, take ownership of day-to-day coordination, helping manage timelines, expectations, and team communication.

Operational:
• Develop, organize, and manage pursuit content and collateral (e.g., proposals, presentations, meeting materials), ensuring version control, consistency, and quality.
• Actively engage with pursuit teams to gather inputs, ask clarifying questions, and help shape clear, value-focused messaging.
• Own quality management by applying review checklists and ensuring compliance with brand, legal, and formatting standards across all deliverables.
• Support the development and curation of pursuit best practices, proposal databases, and reusable content assets.
• Execute pursuit communication plans by preparing materials, aligning messaging, and supporting delivery of client-ready outputs.
• Design and deliver client-facing materials (e.g., proposals, meeting decks, presentations) with accountability for clarity, flow, and message quality.
• Exercise judgment to balance speed, quality, and compliance across multiple concurrent pursuits.
• Contribute to broader practice initiatives, including development of marketing materials, prospect presentations, and knowledge repositories.

Qualifications

Required:
• Deputy Managers 9 –12 years of post-Master’s degree experience in presales, bid, or pursuit management
• Master’s degree in business management, or a related field.
• Experience using GenAI tools and demonstrated ability to leverage technology for effective pursuit management.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Intellectual curiosity and ability to quickly learn about a wide variety of topics.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Initiative and ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
• Strong project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
