Position Summary

Cloud Solution Architect (Senior Consultants, Managers)

Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Solution Architect to lead end-to-end architecture for cloud-native web applications across diverse technology stacks. The role is deliberately stack-agnostic: architecture judgment, patterns, and multi-cloud fluency matter more than commitment to any single language or framework. Candidates may come from MEAN/MERN (Node.js/TypeScript), Python (FastAPI/Flask/Django), Java (Spring Boot), .NET, or other modern ecosystems. You will shape target-state architectures, guide engineering teams, and ensure secure, scalable deployments across multi-cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP). You will partner with product, security, platform, AI, and data teams to deliver resilient solutions using modern DevSecOps, containerization, and infrastructure automation.

Experience bands:

  • Senior Consultant: 8+ years total experience in software engineering and architecture
  • Manager: 12+ years total experience in software engineering and architecture

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead solution architecture for large-scale web applications across diverse stacks (MEAN/MERN, Python, Java, .NET, or equivalent), including modernization and greenfield builds.
  • Define cloud reference architectures and implementation patterns for multi-cloud deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP), balancing portability with platform-native optimizations.
  • Design and govern API strategies (REST/GraphQL), integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and microservices/service decomposition.
  • Architect scalable data solutions using any of: managed relational (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL), managed NoSQL (AWS DynamoDB), document stores (MongoDB), managed analytics/warehouse (AWS Redshift), and in-memory cache (AWS ElastiCache, Azure Redis Cache) — alongside messaging/streaming and search.
  • Establish non-functional requirements and ensure performance, reliability, scalability, observability, and cost efficiency (FinOps) are built in.
  • Drive cloud security architecture: IAM, secrets management, encryption, network segmentation, WAF, threat modeling, and compliance-aligned controls.
  • Build and influence CI/CD and DevSecOps practices: automated testing, SAST/DAST, artifact management, policy-as-code, and release governance.
  • Define infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation (e.g., Terraform/CloudFormation/Bicep), and standardize environment provisioning.
  • Guide container and platform strategy (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/GKE, ingress/service mesh as appropriate) and operational runbooks.
  • For cloud-deployed AI application platforms, own the cloud platform and infrastructure architecture (networking, scaling, security, CI/CD, IaC, observability) in joint partnership with the AI Solutions Architect, who owns the AI application layer (agent orchestration, LLM integration, RAG, guardrails).
  • For cloud-deployed data platforms (lakehouses/delta lakes, data hubs, streaming architectures), own the cloud platform and infrastructure architecture in joint partnership with the Data Integration Architect, who owns the data architecture layer (pipelines, lakehouse/delta lake design, governance, ETL/ELT).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into architecture decisions; produce clear artifacts (HLD/LLD, ADRs, roadmaps).
  • Mentor engineers and architects; conduct design reviews and enforce architecture standards and best practices.
  • Support production readiness, incident response improvements, SRE-style reliability practices, and continuous optimization.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years (Senior Consultant) or 12+ years (Manager) total experience in software engineering and architecture.
  • Demonstrated architecture experience across multiple web application stacks — any two or more of MEAN/MERN, Python (FastAPI/Flask/Django), Java (Spring Boot), .NET, or equivalent. Deep specialization in one is expected, working fluency in at least one additional stack is required.
  • Strong experience with managed database services across multiple paradigms, with demonstrated breadth across the HCF ecosystem – any of (deep experience in at least one paradigm is expected; working familiarity across most is required):
    • Managed relational: AWS RDS/Aurora (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MariaDB, Oracle), Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL
    • Document: MongoDB
    • Managed NoSQL key-value: AWS DynamoDB
    • Managed analytics/warehouse: AWS Redshift
    • In-memory cache: AWS ElastiCache, Azure Redis Cache
  • Cross-functional fluency with AI/ML and data architecture patterns — working familiarity with LLM application deployment (model gateways, vector DBs such as pgvector, RAG pipelines), data platform concepts (lakehouse, ETL/ELT, streaming), and the infrastructure requirements they impose on cloud architecture. Not expected to own these domains, but must design cloud environments that host them and collaborate with AI Solutions and Data Integration architects in joint reviews.
  • Hands-on proficiency with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf or equivalent) for architecture work, design documentation, and engineering workflows. Familiarity with agentic engineering patterns is expected.
  • Strong experience designing and operating MongoDB solutions (data modeling, indexing, replication, sharding, performance tuning)
  • Proven multi-cloud deployment experience across AWS/Azure/GCP (at least two strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking and security fundamentals (VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, DNS, load balancing, TLS, IAM)
  • Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes and cloud-managed services (EKS/AKS/GKE)
  • CI/CD expertise (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and IaC (Terraform strongly preferred)
  • Observability experience (logging/metrics/tracing) using tools such as CloudWatch/Azure Monitor/GCP Operations, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK
  • Strong architecture documentation and communication skills; ability to influence technical direction across teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud certifications (one or more): AWS Solutions Architect (Professional), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect
  • Experience with service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), API gateways (Kong/Apigee/AWS API Gateway/Azure APIM), and eventing (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Event Hubs)
  • Experience with zero-trust patterns, policy-as-code (OPA/Gatekeeper), and security tooling (Vault, Prisma, Wiz, etc.)
  • Experience with multi-region/high-availability designs and disaster recovery planning (RTO/RPO)
  • Familiarity with platform engineering and internal developer platforms (Backstage, golden paths, reusable templates)
  • Domain experience in regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, public sector)

Key Competencies

  • Architecture leadership and pragmatic decision-making (trade-offs, risk management, technology selection)
  • Strong stakeholder management; ability to translate ambiguity into executable plans
  • Hands-on builder mindset—comfortable diving into code, pipelines, and cloud consoles when needed
  • Coaching/mentoring and quality-driven engineering culture

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). Master’s degree is a plus
