A ServiceNow Quality Engineering (QE) Engineer specializing in test automation validates that ServiceNow applications, workflows, and integrations meet business requirements and operate reliably, while ensuring platform updates and customizations do not disrupt existing services. The role bridges developers and business stakeholders to define and execute effective test coverage, with a hands-on focus on building and improving automated testing for multiple high-visibility projects. Leveraging a software development background and modern testing frameworks and methodologies, this engineer strengthens automation frameworks and quality standards to deliver stable, outcome-focused solutions that improve user experience and drive value from Deloitte’s technology investments.
Key Responsibilities:
Test strategy & planning: Define end-to-end test plans for ServiceNow modules (IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), HR Service Delivery (HRSD), Customer Service Management (CSM)) aligned to business outcomes.
• Automation-first quality engineering: Design, build, maintain, and scale automated tests using ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) plus tools like Selenium/Playwright; improve automation frameworks and coverage.
• Functional, regression, and upgrade validation: Test rules, scripts, UI policies, workflows, Update Sets, and platform upgrades to prevent regressions.
• Integration testing: Validate REST/SOAP integrations and data flows between ServiceNow and external enterprise systems; use tools like Postman as needed.
• Defect management & quality advocacy: Identify, document, triage, and track defects (JIRA/ServiceNow Test Management), and champion quality gates and feasibility/appropriateness of testing.
• UAT and stakeholder collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, UX, and business users to support UAT, translate user stories/UX designs into tests, and communicate tradeoffs with evidence.
• Iterative delivery & continuous improvement: Deliver maintainable solutions with Agile/DevSecOps practices (e.g., in-sprint automated testing, CI/CD enablement), continuously learning and reducing tech debt.
