Analyst - Data Protection Services Engineer at Deloitte Support Services India Private Limited
Role Overview
As a Data Protection Services Engineer, you will oversee Backup and Replication servers with Veeam, backup, recovery operations on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, GCPBDR), troubleshoot backup failures, and participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) activities. Your role will involve reporting and tracking backup failures, handling restore requests, managing incidents, and coordinating with change management. Collaboration with internal and external teams for upgrades, restores, and documentation, along with adherence to Scrum methodology and flexibility to work in shifts, is essential.
Responsibilities
• Familiar with GCP BDR process, configurations, deployments and troubleshooting the issues.
• Monitoring the Google Cloud and GCPBDR enviroments for any backup failures and alerts.
• Monitoring the Azure Enviroment.
• Responsible for all aspects of Server Infrastructure and Hosting Applications backup and recovery using Veeam Availability Suite 12.x and/or IBM Spectrum Protect (formal named Tivoli Storage Systems – TSM).
• Role includes: System Engineering solutions, Systems administration, ongoing maintenance, upgrades, Business Continuity (BCP), Data and File System protections and recovery, problem-solving, systems configuration, and implementation efforts for large and / or complex projects.
• An emphasis on operational excellence, continous improvement of systems, related processes, and procedures.
• Plans, documents procedures and coordinate activities with local and remote team members and customers.
• Flexiblity to work in a dynamic fast paced enviornment with rapid technology changes and complex customer demands. Willingess to get involved with other technologies such as (Veeam for AWS platform, Azure Backup, VMware, Hyper-V, HPE Apollo sytems, Windows servers, Linux servers and IBM libraries.
Required Technical Skills:
• Experienced with Veeam Availability Suite 12.x or newer or equivalent technology- Required.
• Experienced with cloud backup solutions is preferred.
• Experienced on System Administrator with knowledge of AIX and Windows operation systems is preferred.
• Knowledge about ransomware protection standards preferred.
• Experienced with Microsoft Windows 2012 and newer operating systems.
• Experienced troubleshooting and resolving common backup failures.
• Experienced in Disaster Recovery exercises on prem and cloud.
• Configure and maintaining backup schedules on Veeam and Cloud areas.
• Strong customer service skills and maintain good working relationships with internal customers.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently without supervision.
• Strong experience in a Microsoft centric environment is preferred to ensure a strong foundation in application support and troubleshooting
• Experienced with Data Protection & Recovery process on Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiar with deploying SAP HANA DB’s using GCPBDR for backup and troubleshooting the backup failures.
• Must know the appliance upgrade process and implementation.
• Good to have the alert configuration, reporting and monitoring skills on GCP.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
• Certification in Cloud Technologies (Azure/AWS/Google).
Education
• Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) or equivalent.
Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Information Systems, or relevant experience.
• 2-4 years of experience in the IT field.
• 2-4 years of experience in Veeam Administration.
• 2-4 years of experience in Google Cloud and GCPBDR.
• 3+ years of experience in engineering, design, implementation, maintenance, application and system upgrades, performance monitoring, backups and restores, support in GCPBDR, GCP, Veeam, IBM AIX, Linux, and MS Windows servers.
• 2+ years in any cloud environment.
• Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory.
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience with Veeam
• 2+ years of experience with any Cloud Technology (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• 2+ years of VMware and VCenter administration experience.

Shift Timing
• 7 AM to 11 PM (9-hour shift – rotational)
