Work You’ll Do

Client Understanding and Requirement Gathering

·       Understand the client’s business area and key business issues.

·       Understand general business processes and their applicability to clients from different industries.

·       Help conduct detailed requirement gathering sessions with business stakeholders to capture all necessary information.

·       Help review and understand client requirements and current pain points, mapping requirements into ERP/CRM/information management products and technologies.

·       Work with a diverse set of business stakeholders to help develop a deep understanding of client requirements and collaborate with the engineering team to provide insights.

·       Facilitate client interviews and workshops to understand current and future requirements.

Process and Solution Design

·       Work directly with clients to help develop implementation strategy and overall design for Enterprise Service Management and business processes.

·       Provide functional consulting to help implement various processes utilizing ServiceNow and other tools, while analyzing current operational processes to assist in driving significant improvements in productivity.

·       Map client business processes into ERP/CRM/information management products and technologies.

·       Work with project leads to configure and build client business processes in SAP/Oracle/Cloud-based products.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help deliver high-quality ERP insights by redesigning end-to-end processes.

·       Help analyze current state client business processes and requirements to provide insights that could meet client needs.

·       Support the assessment, design, and implementation of finance transformation initiatives, including process optimization, technology enablement, and operating model redesign.

·       Support data migration, system integration, and testing activities in large-scale finance and supply chain transformations.

·       Help design, define, and implement processes and alternatives aimed at minimizing operational risk.

·       Help develop frameworks that enable compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across the globe.

Implementation and Delivery

·       Help drive the delivery of requirements using standard Agile best practices.

·       Work in conjunction with program senior leadership to assist with program-level activities and delivery strategy.

·       Coordinate the effective implementation and help delivery of technology insights for complex business problems.

·       Assist in the implementation and configuration of ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday, etc.) for clients.

·       Help test and validate end-to-end business processes in SAP/Oracle/Cloud-based products.

·       Help provide end-user training and post-implementation support to clients to stabilize systems and maximize value from transformation investments.

·       Enable clients to support their business processes in a production environment.

·       Help perform regular risk analysis and develop mitigation plans.

·       Facilitate effective communication by acting as a liaison between the client, project leads, developers, QA, and other stakeholders.

Innovation and Technology Enablement

·       Help resolve specific client problems through innovation, using NextGen technologies like Digital, Blockchain, Automation, and AI to implement innovative insights.

·       Help identify opportunities to bring efficiencies to client business processes through process re-engineering and best practices.

·       Help apply an understanding of Tier 1 Digital Core technologies (e.g., SAP and/or Oracle) and facilitate the use of technology-based tools or methodologies.

·       Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in finance transformation.

·       Help identify opportunities to utilize Deloitte assets and NextGen technologies to implement innovative client alternatives.

Documentation and Reporting

·       Help document business processes, system configurations, and project deliverables.

·       Help improve and develop required documentation such as process design diagrams, roles/responsibilities, RACI matrix, workshop presentations, gap analysis reports, and other project deliverables.

·       Assist in creating necessary artifacts for clients/Deloitte repository, such as functional specifications, insight design documents, user manuals, and training materials.

·       Engage with client stakeholders to present program status reports, cadence decks, and other communications.

Stakeholder Management and Communication

·       Build strong relationships with client SMEs and product owners through regular interactions.

·       Facilitate meetings and workshops.

·       Help drive feature review meetings with clients and collate feedback.

·       Work effectively in diverse teams and foster an inclusive, collaborative culture.

·       Facilitate effective communication and act as a liaison between all stakeholders.

Role Overview

As a Functional Business Consultant at Deloitte, you will be a techno-functional SME that help connect client needs with effective technology insights. Beyond project implementations, you’ll support ongoing alternatives and digital transformation journeys by helping drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and measurable client value. Your role includes discovery, client communication, managing requirements, and maintaining a product-focused approach—all with a commitment to outstanding service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business statistics and analysis -
    • Help monitor and analyze operational metrics, trends, statistics to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
    • Collaborate with service delivery teams to facilitate timely deliveries in line with SLAs and client expectations.
    • Facilitate root cause analysis and recommend preventive measures for recurring operational challenges.
    • Support the development and maintenance of knowledge bases, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and runbooks for ongoing service delivery.
    • Participate in regular service review meetings with clients, presenting insights, performance reports, and improvement recommendations.
  • Product Mindset & Solution Design
    • Approach client challenges with a product mindset, focusing on helping deliverfeatures and enhancements that provide measurable business outcomes and operational excellence.
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including developers, QA, and service managers—to design insights that could meet client requirements and industry best practices.
    • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance client products and services through competitor analysis, industry benchmarking, and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Agile & Project/Service Management
    • Demonstrate knowledge in agile methodologies, project and service management tools, and software development life cycles.
    • Champion continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and leveraging Deloitte assets and NextGen technologies (e.g., Digital, Automation, AI) to solve client challenges.
  • Industry & Regulatory Awareness
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices relevant to the client’s business domain to provide informed recommendations and insights.

AI&Data

AI & Data offers a broad spectrum of insights for designing, developing, and operating cutting-edge Data and AI platforms, products, insights, and services. Our offerings help clients innovate, enhance and operate their data, AI, and analytics capabilities, ensuring they can mature and scale effectively. AI & Data Engineering will collaborate with our clients to drive AI-driven transformation, private LLM management, Gen AI & AI Agents, data platform architecture and modernization, data for AI/GenAI, data engineering, and comprehensive AI & Data managed services.

Drive operational efficiency by maintaining their data ecosystems, sourcing analytics experience, and providing As-a-Service offerings for continuous insights and improvements

Role Overview:

·              Understand industry best practices for your core functional area. Map them to the client’s current practices, processes and suggest improvements to enhance overall performance.

·              Create BRDs (Business Requirement Documents) and FRDs (Functional Requirement Documents).

·              Help create and maintain user stories and acceptance criteria in Jira (or similar agile management tools).

·              Proficiency in Agile project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Rally, VersionOne).

·              Basic understanding of software development practices.

·              Be responsible for implementing and maintaining Scrum practices and principles, enabling effective collaboration, communication, and delivery of high-quality software products.

·              Supports asset development efforts from a functional standpoint.

·              Develop and execute test cases and scripts for solution validation.

·              Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and gather user feedback.

·              Document and track defects, issues, and enhancement requests.

·              Familiarity with CI/CD concepts.

·              Foster stakeholder management, conflict resolution and communication.

·              Establishing and maintaining effective project management practices, providing project oversight, and facilitating communication and coordination among project teams and stakeholders.

·              Assist in the creation and maintenance of project plans, milestones, schedules, and timelines.

·              Support resource allocation and monitor team assignments.

·              Maintain project documentation (on SharePoint, Teams, Confluence), including charters, risk logs, issue logs, and change requests.

·              Prepare regular project status reports and dashboards for leadership and stakeholders.
