Manager – Meeting and Event Services (MES) – L5
The Manager – Meeting and Event Services position is responsible for the management of the MES Planning team based in Hyderabad supporting meetings and events at Deloitte University in Hyderabad and support programs, when required, throughout the country. The strategy development and day-to-day operations management of the DU India MES team is a key focus area of this position. The position also acts as Leader for the MES team in DU India on the ground and is the liaison between MES and the DU India Leadership and other areas within Business Services supporting DU India. This position is also part of the overall Meeting & Event Services Management team in USI and DU India which leads all areas of DU India Scheduling, Meeting Planning, and occasionally support MES at the National, Marketplace Meetings and Events, and Registrations teams.
Work you’ll do
· Serve as an SME for Meetings and Events Services in DU India and internal clients.
· Drive and ensure compliance is driven to all standards and processes by team members.
· Be a business advisor to internal clients and businesses to ensure cost saving measures, and adherence to meeting protocols, risk policies and contracting
· Manage the exception process for meetings operating outside of Firm policies
· MES and DU India Metrics Reporting
· Forecast management and impeccable data integrity
· Drive scheduling activities of DU India for maximum utilization
· Responsibility over management of hotel room blocks to minimize financial impact to the firm with regard to meeting cancellations and attrition
· Manage escalations and drive resolutions
· Continued development and refinement of operating standards and processes to increase efficiency and excellence in client service.
· Seek out ways to bring innovation and new technologies to our services to ensure the team is operating in the most advanced and efficient way possible
· Deliver exceptional client service with a consultative, pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach
· Direct report responsibility and accountability for team’s hiring, professional development and performance
· Deliver transparent, productive feedback to promote professional growth and ongoing development; conduct regular coaching conversations to specifically discuss overall performance and contributions
· Coach, mentor and clearly communicate expectations to help professionals achieve successful results and improve employee engagement index
· Any special projects as designated by MES leadership
Collaboration and Leadership:
· Management of the relationship between MES and key internal stakeholders, eg; Procurement, DU India Leadership, Business Leaders, RMP’s Office, Office of General Council, Office of Security and Operations, DLHP and G&D Teams etc.,
· Frequent interaction and communication with USI Firm leadership, MES Meeting Planning and USI Registration Managers and external clients
· Collaborate with other Service Lines - Talent, Recruiting, Planning and Operation teams at DU Westlake and DU India (OTMC), IT & AV teams.
· Advocate and foster a culture of recognition of team members for initiatives and contributions for team development.
· Act as a change agent to support business strategies and help professionals understand and adopt new initiatives, technologies, and processes
· Collaborate with colleagues and groups within Finance and Administration to drive efficiencies and cross-teaming necessary for well-coordinated service delivery
· Take ownership of business continuity & business impact plan
· Lead re-occurring team meetings discussions and ensure transparent communication across team
· Frequent interaction with Hotel/DMC/Hospitality Industry sales and operation professionals, supporting Deloitte’s professional partnerships.
Qualifications
· Graduate or Postgraduate in Hospitality, Hotel and/or related field of study
· 15+ years relevant experience in the meetings, hospitality and/or relevant industry
· Proven track record in managing successful teams
· Ability to coach and develop people
· Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with a consultative style
· Project management – ability to understand scope, create timelines and budgets
· Deliver high impact solutions & results oriented approach
· Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously and under deadlines
· Ability to handle high volume workload and in a fast-paced environment
· Strong working knowledge of Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook
· Excellent customer service
