Tax Accounting & Projections - Manager
The Manager will lead key workstreams within the quarterly taxable income projections process for the US Firms Tax organization. In this role, the Manager supports transparency and visibility into firm taxable income for Partners, Principals, and firm leadership. This role is responsible for driving day-to-day execution for assigned components of the projections cycle, including coordinating inputs, performing analysis, ensuring documentation and controls are completed, and producing review-ready deliverables. The Manager works closely with the Director and PPMD to surface risks early, resolve cross-functional dependencies, and deliver timely outputs that support executive governance and decision-making.
Work you’ll do
As a Tax Accounting & Projections Manager on the US Firms Tax team, you will be responsible for:
Lead assigned components of quarterly taxable income projections
· Own day-to-day execution for assigned workstreams in the quarterly projections lifecycle (inputs, calculations, review support, outputs, monitoring)
· Develop and maintain the annual taxable income forecast model (periodic/quarterly refresh), aligned to business plan, latest forecast, and actual results
· Translate financial results to taxable results by analyzing forecasted financials, identifying material permanent and temporary differences resulting in forecasted key book-to-tax adjustments, entity/jurisdictional impacts, and other discrete items
· Partner with FP&A and Controllership to reconcile forecast-to-actual drivers (revenue, margin, compensation, impairments, restructuring, intercompany, etc.) and incorporate updated assumptions
· Provide support for the year end input to US Firms' consolidated taxable income percentage (e.g., interim tax accounting support, effective taxable income percentage driver analysis and percent reconciliation, quarterly/annual forecasted taxable income percentage reporting packages)
· Perform and/or oversee driver analysis, sensitivity/scenario analysis, and variances vs. prior outlook and actuals
Lead day-to-day team coordination
· Provide direction to Consultants/Analysts supporting the cycle; review work for accuracy, completeness, and clarity
· Facilitate working sessions with the Projections team and other USFT channels; track actions/owners and drive closure across dependencies
· Escalate issues with options and impacts, and propose recommended paths forward
Operate within the governance and control framework
· Execute operational controls (review checklists, evidence retention, version control, peer review) and ensure audit-ready traceability
· Document key assumptions, judgments, and changes; maintain workpaper quality standards
· Identify process, data, or control issues; propose remediation and coordinate fixes with dependent teams
Develop communications and prepare leadership-ready materials
· Draft and quality-check tables, exhibits, and commentary for leadership reporting packs and communications
· Support preparation of quarterly FAC materials for review (assumptions, risks, changes vs. prior outlook) and incorporate feedback with disciplined change control
· Translate complex analysis into clear summaries and “so-what” implications for the Partners and Principal community
Continuous improvement and innovation
· Identify and implement improvements (templates, trackers, standard workpapers, data quality checks) to reduce cycle time and rework
· Support automation and reporting enhancements by defining requirements, testing outputs, and documenting procedures
· Capture lessons learned and implement enhancements ahead of the next quarterly cycle
The team
This position is a part of the US India Firms Tax team. The Firms Tax team is responsible for ensuring entity level compliances for all the US companies, besides catering to the tax essentials and advise to US companies’ business and enabling functions ecosystems. The team consists of tax professionals with adequate expertise in handling tax matters. This team works in close coordination with the US finance, legal and enabling besides business teams to ensure optimum tax health of the US companies named above.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or Analytics
• 10-14 years of experience in tax, finance, accounting, or analytics roles
• Experience building and reviewing models, schedules, or workpapers used for estimates, forecasts, or projections
• Experience analyzing financial results and translating book results to taxable income impacts, including permanent differences, temporary differences, and discrete items
• Experience reviewing work performed by analysts, consultants, or equivalent team members
• Experience preparing tables, exhibits, and commentary for leadership reporting materials
• Experience executing documentation, version control, evidence retention, or review procedures within a control framework
Preferred:
• Experience with Accounting Standards Codification 740
• Experience supporting quarterly or annual taxable income forecasting in a complex business environment
• Experience improving recurring processes through standardization, automation, analytics, or reporting tools
• CPA credential
Location: Hyderabad
Work Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM
