The pursuit manager works closely with senior partners and other pursuit/sales professionals in support of priority competitive opportunities with US-based clients. The role focuses on writing compelling proposals with an original, persuasive voice, synthesizing and articulating strategic messaging, and editing proposal content from multiple sources. Depending upon the pursuit, the role may also involve coordination aspects of proposal and presentation development. Work you’ll do
As a Pursuit Manager, you will lead the proposal process from pre-RFP discussions through orals coaching and post-presentation follow-up. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic management:
- Oversee end-to-end RFP and proposal processes, including planning, win theme strategy, proposal writing, and oral presentation coaching.
- Advise and collaborate with client service professionals, providing strategic communication insights and leadership.
- Leverage proprietary GenAI tools to bring efficiency to the pursuit process, share meaningful insights with client service teams, and guide the strategy.
- Exhibit outstanding verbal skills in facilitating and distilling complex discussions; demonstrate a finely tuned ability to sift through a discussion, extracting the most significant information and action items.
- Develop and implement effective pursuit and messaging strategies, lead meetings, and present in various forums.
- Negotiate and mediate to resolve conflicts and reach consensus quickly.
- Direct competitive intelligence and knowledge management efforts to inform pursuit messaging.
- Influence and persuade stakeholders to adopt best practices and innovative approaches.
- Teaming, collaboration, and leading:
- Demonstrate exceptional business insight, judgment, and executive presence.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with senior clients (VP and C-level), understanding their objectives and success factors.
- Collaborate with partner advisors, and graphic design professionals to deliver high-quality, brand-compliant proposals and presentations.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering growth and collaboration.
- Navigate large, complex pursuits to positively influence team dynamics and manage expectations.
- Operational:
- Develop, organize, and manage proposal content and collateral, ensuring version control and quality across all components.
- Engage with the pursuit team strategically; pose questions that encourage a team to consider all aspects of the client’s position, and draw out essential messaging.
- Taking ownership of quality, maintain a quality checklist to ensure 100% quality on all documents
- Contribute to the development of pursuit best practices, proposal databases, marketing materials, and prospect presentations.
- Develop and coordinate effective pursuit communications strategies; advise the pursuit team on communication objectives, messages, and tone; and manage the overall process to develop value-focused deliverables.
- Other activities include the development and implementation of leading pursuit practices, the development of content for the proposal database, internal and external marketing brochures, and presentations for prospect meetings.

Qualifications
Required
- Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager: 6–10 years of post-Master’s degree experience in pursuit writing/management or content development.
- Manager/Executive Manager: 11–17 years of post-Master’s degree experience in pursuit writing/management or content development.
- Master’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
- Experience using GenAI tools and demonstrated ability to leverage technology for effective proposal development.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to quickly learn about a wide variety of topics.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Initiative and ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
- Strong project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
