Position: Assistant Manager (CL4)
Are you passionate about sustainability, have a deep understanding of portfolio and project management, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment with diverse stakeholders across the globe? The Global Purpose Office’s Sustainability team is looking for an experienced associate to advance Deloitte’s Net-Zero Transition Plan’s delivery capabilities across the global organization. This role is within Deloitte Global and will support Deloitte to deliver on its sustainability strategy and WorldClimate goals, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.
The portfolio management lead (PM lead) will oversee the implementation of Deloitte’s network-wide climate transition plan and will be the central point for program planning, coordination, and reporting. The PM lead will coordinate closely with project leads, specialists from Deloitte Global and member firm (MF) sustainability teams and enabling functions, and the Net-zero Taskforce, to monitor and translate project-level actions into portfolio-level insight, to surface and manage cross-project dependencies and risks, and to ensure materials and recommendations are prepared, validated, and routed to appropriate oversight groups for input and approval.
As part of the Portfolio management lead role for Net‑zero transition (Lead Specialist) your responsibilities include the following:
- Oversee delivery management and activities, including:
- Maintain the program plan and master schedule for 30+ projects, including highlighting milestones and identifying critical paths and interdependencies
- Own program-level risk, issue, and dependency registers; identify, recommend and coordinate possible mitigations; and escalate unresolved items to oversight bodies
- Bring coordination across projects, serving as a conduit to connect project teams to other relevant stakeholders and manage communications at the program level.
- Maintain program controls, standards and delivery tools including:
- Implement and maintain consistent PM templates, reporting standards, repository structure (e.g., SharePoint), and a lessons-learned process.
- Enforce change-control, decision gates, and program governance aligned with portfolio management handbook;
- Provide on-going support and guidance to project teams on use of portfolio artifacts (PM templates, reports)
- Support quality assurance through periodic artifact reviews and milestone checks, and remediate data quality gaps identified;
- Lead the development and maintenance of PM tooling (e.g., MS Project/Planner, SharePoint, Power BI) and support establishment of KPIs/OKRs for program delivery;
- Drive continuous improvement of PM processes, reporting cadence, and collaboration practices across delivery teams.
- Support stakeholder engagement and reporting, including:
- Prepare and facilitate steering materials for Net-Zero Taskforce meetings (agenda, materials, minutes, action tracking);
- Serve as a resource for project leads to workshop outputs and play a coordinating role to bring deliverables to appropriate groups for input, validation and approval;
- Run regular reporting cycles (collect, validate, consolidate) and maintain a single source of truth for program health, including primary responsibility for upkeep of dashboards and tracking tools;
- Develop periodic reports and presentations to senior leaders and oversight bodies that highlight program status, key milestones and actions, and escalation for critical issues;
Qualifications
Required
- Experience: 3+ years professional experience, with 2+ years running program-level PMO activities or managing large, multi-project transformations. Experience in sustainability/net-zero or technology programs is a strong plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental science, or related field.
- Methodologies & certifications: Familiar with both waterfall and agile delivery approaches; Management of Portfolios, Managing Successful Programmes, PMP, Prince2, or Agile/Scrum certification preferred (but not strictly required).
- Tools & analytics: Proficient with data management tools (e.g. MS SharePoint, PowerApps), program and portfolio tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, JIRA/Confluence) and with reporting/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel advanced skills).
- Communication & stakeholder management: Proven ability to prepare executive presentations, facilitate governance meetings, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Organization & attention to detail: Strong documentation discipline, ability to maintain multiple trackers and deliver reliable, auditable program artifacts.
- Collaboration & facilitation: Comfortable coordinating cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
- Problem solving: Strong analytical skills to translate project-level data into program insights.
