Global Independence – Assistant Manager

The team
This is an internal firm professional service position that supports firms of the Deloitte organization. Global Risk & Brand Protection (GR&BP) analysts play a critical role in enhancing, preserving and protecting the reputation of the Deloitte organization. Specifically, GR&BP analysts assist in ensuring compliance with firm policies and professional standards in the areas of auditor independence, regulatory compliance, and risk. Functions within GR&BP include Global Independence, Technology, Privacy, Risk, Ethics and Office of General Counsel.
The ideal GR&BP candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic work environment. They must also be able to;
- Ensure the quality, integrity, and completeness of data related to clients and related parties in various independence compliance systems of the firm.
- Support engagement teams and firms in complying with independence policies of regulatory bodies in addition to the IESBA, SEC, AICPA and PCAOB
- Evaluating the information to ensure that there is no potential conflict of interest, in terms of services and financial interests to maintain Auditor Independence
- Ensuring that all financial relationships held by Deloitte professionals and other compliance related information are accurately recorded as per policies.
- Define and implement Independence processes and support system deployment activities.
- Assist with training of firms on processes and addressing questions related to Independence policies.
Work you’ll do
As a part of this team, you will be involved with:
- Coordinating quality control processes and advising firms on entities restricted for independence purpose and their affiliates to maintain regulatory compliance. Work with stakeholders on evaluating scope of services and application of policy.
- Manage and oversee information updates made in Independence systems and perform second level quality assurance reviews
- Supervise a team of 4-5 team members and provide training on both firm and regulatory policies and internal processes
- Responsible for KPIs, performance monitoring, and evaluation of team members
- Act as coach, counselor and mentor for team members
- Support senior management by handling various operational responsibilities within the Global Independence team and preparing MIS reports
- Lead and execute process improvement and system enhancement initiatives related to data management and systems
- Provide solutions to complex issues related to firm policies and seek the involvement of third parties in troubleshooting
- Assist in the development of procedures and guidance documents
- Develop strong knowledge in independence and regulatory policies
Qualifications
· Post Graduate/MBA with overall experience of 5-8 years and 1-2 years of people management experience
Required skills
· Demonstrate initiative, ability to think critically and good judgment
· Project Management skills and ability to handle multiple projects and tasks within tight deadlines
· Ability to execute complex tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
· Strong research skills and familiarity with various research tools (Bloomberg, Refinitiv)
· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
· Proficiency in MS office suite (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Ability to work under pressure, adapt to rapid changes and be flexible
· Basic knowledge of financial instruments, loans, insurance products and company structures.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with individuals ranging from staff to partners.
· Effective time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Demonstrated initiative, ability to think critically and good judgment
· Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion
· Understanding of Independence requirements for a professional auditing firm
Preferred:
· Basic awareness of regulatory policies pertaining to securities market and public company accounting standards
· Prior experience in Risk & Compliance domain preferred
· Familiarity with Python, Tableau, Power BI Access a plus
