Role: Scrum Master
As a Consultant at Deloitte Consulting, you will be responsible for individually delivering high quality work products within due timelines in an agile framework. Need-basis consultants will be mentoring and/or directing junior team members/liaising with onsite/offshore teams to understand the functional requirements.
Position Overview:
The Scrum Master is a key member of an Agile team, responsible for facilitating the Scrum process, coaching team members in Agile best practices, and ensuring the team’s effectiveness in delivering high-quality products. The Scrum Master acts as a servant leader, removing impediments and fostering a collaborative, transparent, and high-performing team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies: Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.
- Coach Agile Practices: Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to deliver value.
- Remove Impediments: Actively work to identify and eliminate obstacles that may hinder the team’s progress.
- Support Product Owner: Assist the Product Owner with backlog management, refinement, and ensuring clear communication of goals and priorities.
- Promote Team Collaboration: Foster open communication, collaboration, and self-organization within the team.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of learning, adaptation, and continuous improvement through regular feedback and process enhancements.
- Maintain Scrum Artifacts: Ensure transparency by maintaining and sharing Scrum artifacts such as the product backlog, sprint backlog, and burndown charts.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between the team and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and managing expectations.
- Monitoring: Track and measure progress and quality against Sprint Plan, DoD, Quality, Delivery Flow metrics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent Agile certification (SAFe Agilist good to have)
- 4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile role working in POD model and facilitating collaboration across multiple PODs through events like the Scrum of Scrums.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, especially Scrum and scaled Agile environment (SAFe)
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams catering to complex business environments operating at scale in hybrid work environments.
- Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), aspects of project planning and estimation, risk identification, capacity and dependency resolution.
- Ability to coach and mentor team members on Agile best practices on Lean delivery practices and product delivery tools such as JIRA boards. Leading role-based trainings – Product Owner, Scrum Master, Development team
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Collaborate with scrum teams to achieve faster impediment resolution and dependency mitigation.
- Proficient in Agile project management tools (such as Jira, Jira Align, Azure DevOps, and Rally), with experience building dashboards to enhance transparency of delivery metrics.
- Enable teams to deliver value by leveraging flow metrics, Objective Key Results (OKRs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Basic understanding of version control systems (e.g., GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket), CI/CD Processes, Release Management
