Position Summary:

Level: Senior Manager/Manager

The Product Engineering Manager is a key leadership role in product team primarily responsible for building and delivering the enterprise software product that is implemented for multiple clients. Development/Engineering manager is a hands-on technical manager managing significant strategic and technical aspect of products, including communications with Leadership, leading multifunctional teams, quality, and adherence to Deloitte standards and processes.

Leadership & Delivery


  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization (engineers and engineering managers), including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Own end-to-end systems software delivery, from design through release, ensuring predictable execution and high quality.
  • Set technical vision and enforce best practices across architecture, code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Architecture, DevOps/SRE, QA, Performance, and Customer Success to align priorities, define requirements, and remove blockers.
  • Drive engineering productivity through Generative AI (GenAI) adoption and enablement.
  • Assess and optimize engineering maturity, estimation approach, and deployment/operating models to improve delivery outcomes.


Engineering Excellence


  • Provide technical direction and oversight for key initiatives, including architectural reviews and critical technical decisions.
  • Improve iteration velocity via tooling, CI/CD, test automation, and standardization.
  • Reduce and prevent technical debt; ensure the platform remains maintainable and current with modern patterns and stack evolution.
  • Stay current on industry trends (including GenAI) and incorporate relevant advancements into strategy and execution.


Operating Model & Continuous Improvement


  • Implement and continuously refine engineering processes and operating rhythms (e.g., planning, code reviews, release management, on-call/incident learnings).
  • Drive measurable improvements in efficiency, reliability, quality, and collaboration.

Our Deloitte Innovations and Technology teams are working on delivering innovative cloud-based solutions across a range of domains and industries (e.g. supply chain management, banking/insurance, CPG, retail, etc.).  It is a fast-paced, innovative and exciting environment.  Our teams are following an agile development approach and work with the latest technologies across a wide range of cloud technologies, commercial options and open source.  We are building and bringing solutions to the market which we are hosting and operating for our clients.

Required Qualifications


  • 16+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years in engineering leadership/management for product engineering teams of sizes greater than 20 engineers.
  • Proven ability to lead architecture discussions, make technical decisions, and balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.
  • Strong experience in distributed systems, microservices, and scalable backend services/APIs.
  • Experience leading Generative AI solutions using open-source LLMs (e.g., Llama, BERT, Mistral) and commercial models (e.g., OpenAI GPT, Claude, Cohere).
  • Working knowledge of agentic AI and frameworks such as LangChain/LangGraph.
  • Cloud: AWS required; Azure a plus.
  • Containers/orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (Helm/Argo CD preferred).
  • Proficiency in one or more stacks (based on product needs):
    • Backend: Java, Node.js, Python
    • Frontend: React
  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum and engineering best practices (testing, code quality, version control).
  • Demonstrated track record mentoring engineers, driving execution, and leading teams through technical complexity.


Education:
  •        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or related field.
