Performance Improvement & Restructuring – Margin Improvement - Consultant
Join our team of Strategy & Transactions professionals to help guide Deloitte client service teams through some of the critical moments and transformational initiatives. From strategy to execution, this team helps deliver integrated support covering valuation modeling, cost optimization, restructuring, business design and transformation, infrastructure and real estate, M&A, and sustainability. Work alongside teams every step of the way, helping them navigate new challenges, avoid financial pitfalls, and support in providing practical insights at certain stages of their journey—before, during, and after any major transformational projects or transactions.
Position Summary
Level : Consultant or equivalent
As an experienced Consultant at Deloitte Consulting, you will be responsible for individually delivering high quality work products within due timelines. Need-basis you will be mentoring and/or directing junior team members/liaising with onsite/offshore teams to understand the functional requirements.
Work you’ll do:
As a Consultant, you will be responsible for owning and delivering workstreams, managing client interactions independently, and leveraging your experience to build your network.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify, assess, and prioritize margin improvement opportunities across revenue, cost, and operational levers.
- Compare client performance against industry peers to highlight gaps and best practices.
- Design tailored strategies and action plans to address identified margin improvement opportunities, leveraging industry best practices and innovative approaches.
- Develop and review financial models to quantify the impact of proposed initiatives on margins and overall profitability.
- Prepare and deliver clear, insightful presentations and reports to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to clients and internal teams.
- Design and implement processes to track initiative progress, measure value realization, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Lead workstreams or specific project components, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
- Support organizational change by developing communication plans, training materials, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Mentor and guide analysts and junior team members, providing feedback and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
The Team:
Performance Improvement & Restructuring (PI&R) team delivers large, complex engagements that identify, design, and implement innovative solutions to support performance improvement, margin transformation, and restructuring programs. These programs typically accompany structural changes in a client's business and operating model.
We focus on identifying and prioritizing strategic initiatives that reduce costs and enhance operational efficiency to improve performance and profitability. This includes optimizing workforce efficiency and effectiveness by refining the operating model, service delivery model, and organizational structure. We also support the development of transformation roadmaps and build business cases to justify large-scale transformation initiatives across key levers to drive sustainable margin improvement. We establish a Transformation Management Office (TMO) to build the required structures, processes, and tools to effectively manage the initiatives and track the benefits which drive the client’s large-scale transformation.
Qualifications
Must Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience for Consultants

- Knowledge of revenue, cost, and margin levers for any of the below industries

- Ability to measure and report value realization (e.g., cost savings, revenue uplift, efficiency gains).
- Understanding of Direct vs. indirect costs, Labor productivity, Supply chain expenses, Capital investments etc.
- Familiarity with Industry benchmarks, trends, and best practices
- Ability to interpret financial statements, cost structures, and operational data with experience in basic statistics, and financial calculations.
- Tools –
- Modeling, advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization in Excel
- Creating clear, executive-level presentations in PowerPoint
- Basic familiarity with Tableau, Power BI or similar data management tools
- Project management tools like MS Project, Smartsheets, Jira etc.
- Ability to prioritize & manage multiple workstreams and deadlines while ensuring accuracy in analysis and deliverables.
- Experience in change management, project documentation (charters, and decision logs) & ensuring compliance.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
