Position Summary: Product Owner
Level: Senior Consultant or equivalent
As a Senior Consultant serving as a Product Owner within Ascend, you will support product strategy execution, feature definition, and delivery of user-centric, scalable capabilities. Working closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Architecture, and other cross-functional teams, you will translate business needs into actionable requirements, manage the feature backlog, and ensure high-quality delivery aligned to Ascend’s platform vision. You will play a key role in synthesizing user insights, defining acceptance criteria, and contributing to the development of AI-enabled and data-driven platform capabilities.
Work you’ll do:
- Support Product Managers in refining product vision, strategy, and roadmap into actionable feature-level plans.
- Manage day-to-day ownership of assigned features, ensuring alignment with Ascend’s business and technology objectives.
- Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical dependencies within PMOne.
- Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning inputs, and grooming sessions with engineering and global delivery teams.
- Monitor feature progress, identify risks or blockers, and escalate issues to leadership as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Data, Architecture, and Operations teams to ensure features are feasible, scalable, secure, and aligned with platform standards.
- Collaborate with Product Strategy and Release teams to support release planning, readiness activities, and KPI definition.
- Work with user experience teams and end-users to validate feature assumptions and improve customer-centric outcomes.
AI/GenAI & Data-Driven Capabilities
- Contribute to the definition of GenAI-enabled features, including basic agent workflows, tool calling patterns, and RAG data requirements.
- Work with data teams to identify feature-level data needs supporting retrieval and agentic experiences.
- Assist in defining instrumentation events, telemetry, and success measures needed to track feature performance.
Customer Advocacy & Continuous Improvement
- Represent the “voice of the customer” by integrating end-user research and insights into feature prioritization.
- Identify opportunities for incremental product improvements, usability enhancements, and process efficiency.
- Support alignment and reuse of shared components across features within the Ascend ecosystem.
Governance & Quality
- Ensure documentation, decisions, and requirements meet Deloitte’s enterprise standards, governance expectations, and risk-management guidelines.
- Maintain high-quality feature specifications and participate in quality reviews, demos, and acceptance testing.
Team Development & Ways of Working
- Model agile excellence and contribute to improving agile practices within the product team.
- Mentor junior team members in writing user stories, structuring requirements, and applying agile frameworks.

The Delivery Transformation (DT) team sits within IDT and focuses on operationalizing innovative platforms and delivery models, such as Ascend. DT drives the integration of these solutions across our client delivery practices to help Deloitte practitioners excel in a rapidly evolving delivery landscape and deliver value to our clients faster and more efficiently.
Qualifications
Must Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:
- Demonstrated ability to define detailed requirements, manage backlogs, and collaborate within agile delivery teams.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Data, Architecture, and Operations.
- Proficiency with product and agile lifecycle tools (e.g., Jira, ADO, PMOne).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to translate complex concepts clearly for diverse audiences.
- Working knowledge of cloud-based platforms, AI/GenAI concepts, and data-driven product development practices.
- Familiarity with GenAI technologies including LLMs, prompt engineering fundamentals, and RAG-based systems.
Good to Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:
- Experience contributing to large-scale digital transformation or modernization initiatives.
- Certifications such as CSPO, PSPO, SAFe POPM, or equivalent.
- Experience working with globally distributed agile teams and vendor partners.
- Understanding of platform scalability, security considerations, and lifecycle governance.
- Ability to draft or refine prompt specifications, feature-level agent skills, or data retrieval requirements.
- Awareness of GenAI operational constraints such as rate limits, data boundaries, evaluation frameworks, and safety considerations.
- Experience working within multi-feature platforms and navigating interdependencies.
