Position Summary

Level: Consultant or equivalent

As an experienced Consultant at Deloitte Consulting, you will be responsible for individually delivering high quality work products within due timelines. Need-basis you will be mentoring and/or directing junior team members/liaising with onsite/offshore teams to understand the functional requirements.

Work you’ll do:

Consultant MongoDB Database Administrator (DBA) is primarily responsible for the management, optimization, security, and maintenance of MongoDB environments, working with minimal supervision and collaborating with development and operations teams.

Apply industry knowledge to requirements gathering and analysis, ensuring alignment with sector needs. Demonstrate expertise across the entire software development lifecycle, from design and coding to deployment and defect resolution, collaborating with stakeholders for effective delivery. Conduct peer and team reviews to maintain quality standards. Actively engage in Agile practices, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and effort estimation. Build and share business process knowledge, supporting project knowledge management and team training. Proactively recommend process improvements, track efficiency gains, and contribute to automation and innovation, all aimed at enhancing project outcomes and delivering greater value to clients.

• Administer and support MongoDB environments across non-production and production, ensuring availability, performance, and security.
• Perform day-to-day operations: monitoring and alerting review, incident triage, and routine maintenance.
• Manage cluster configuration and health (replica sets, sharding, elections/failovers, balancer behavior—as applicable).
• Implement and validate backup and recovery procedures; support periodic restore testing and disaster recovery (DR) readiness.
• Troubleshoot performance and stability issues (slow queries, index effectiveness, connection limits, resource utilization) and complete root-cause analysis.
• Support upgrades and patching for MongoDB and related components, following change management practices with rollback plans.
• Administer security controls (users/roles, authentication mechanisms, TLS, encryption at rest—as applicable) aligned to enterprise standards.
• Partner with application and data teams on data modeling, indexing, and query pattern reviews to improve performance and reduce operational risk.
• Maintain runbooks, standards, and operational documentation; participate in on-call/after-hours support as required.

The team:

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining comprehensive database documentation, ensuring that all configurations, procedures, and best practices are we'll-documented and easily accessible. This includes keeping records of database structures, indexing strategies, backup and recovery processes, and security policies. Additionally, the candidate will provide technical guidance to team members by sharing best practices, assisting with troubleshooting, and helping developers optimize database interactions to improve overall system performance and reliability.

Qualifications

Must Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:

• 3 - 6 years of hands-on experience in Mongo database administration
• 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on MongoDB.
• Knowledge of MongoDB 4.2 and higher versions.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB replication, sharding, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in database monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
• Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
• Understanding of database security, access control, and data integrity principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Good to Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:

Experience with any one of the following databases is required: Netezza, PostgreSQL, Informix, Mainframe, SQL Server, Oracle, Cosmos DB, IBM Db2 (UDB), or an Enterprise Data Warehouse.

Education:

• BE/ B.Tech/M.C.A./ M.Sc (CS) degree or equivalent from accredited university
