Position Summary
Level: Consultant or equivalent
As an experienced Consultant at Deloitte Consulting, you will be responsible for individually delivering high quality work products within due timelines. Need-basis you will be mentoring and/or directing junior team members/liaising with onsite/offshore teams to understand the functional requirements.
Work you’ll do:
Apply industry knowledge to requirements gathering and analysis, ensuring alignment with sector needs. Demonstrate expertise across the entire software development lifecycle, from design and coding to deployment and defect resolution, collaborating with stakeholders for effective delivery. Conduct peer and team reviews to maintain quality standards. Actively engage in Agile practices, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and effort estimation. Build and share business process knowledge, supporting project knowledge management and team training. Proactively recommend process improvements, track efficiency gains, and contribute to automation and innovation, all aimed at enhancing project outcomes and delivering greater value to clients.
- Provide guidance and support to Application Developers
- Assist with schema design, code review, SQL query tuning
- Install, tune, implement and upgrade DBMS installations
- Write and deploy SQL patches
- Assist Operations Team with any infrastructure /environment issues during application deployment across Development, QA, Staging and Production environments.
- Responsible for change management and performance tuning of the database for the particular applications they’re working on. Design, document, and monitor the database servers
- Develop standards and procedures for maintenance and modification of database platforms
- Provide systems architecture guidance in creating high availability systems
- Provide direction in capacity planning, performance improvement, and storage management in partnership with other clients and internal resources
- Plan and support the implementation of major architectural changes
- Develop backup and recovery procedures, including testing back-ups and data integrity
- Proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues
- Create automation for repeating database tasks
- Be available for on-call support as needed
- Process work accurately and in a timely manner
- Always pay attention to detail
- Proactively and regularly make recommendations for system improvements
- Collate, prepare and present statistical information for internal and external use

Qualifications
Must Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:
- 3 - 6 years of hands-on experience
- Good knowledge on Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
- Expertise in Analysis, designing and implementing Backup/Restore and Disaster recovery strategies and solutions
- Experienced in cloning, log shipping, archiving in SQL servers
- Experience working with support vendors, application owners, infrastructure teams
- Hands-on experience in SQL, query optimization, performance tuning & indexing.
- Hands-on experience in clustering, log shipping, replication techniques
- Knowledge to automate the activities like DB Creation, Patching and Health Check
- Knowledge and worked on implementing right Security policies and procedures
- Validated knowledge on capacity management and should know how to optimize it
- Worked on backup and recovery procedures and should be aware about the retention policy and the maintenance backup pieces
- Should have knowledge and worked on the process and procedures related to DR Activity
- 24X7 Production support and should be able take up on-call on rotational basis
- knowledge on the ticketing tools and should be well aware about the ITIL Process.
- Involving performance related issues
- Basic Unix shell scripting skills
Good to Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications:
- Linux and Windows Admin
- Good knowledge on Performance tuning
- Knowledge in MSSQL Server database Architecture and Management
- Knowledge on High Availability like Replication, clustering and AlwaysOn
- Knowledge on SQL

- BE/B.Tech/M.C.A./M.Sc (CS) degree or equivalent from accredited university
