Position Summary
Level: Sr. Consultant
As a Sr. Consultant at Deloitte Consulting, you will be responsible for individually delivering high quality work products within due timelines in an agile framework. Need-basis consultants will be mentoring and/or directing junior team members/liaising with onsite/offshore teams to understand the functional requirements.
Work you’ll do:
- Develop comprehensive test strategies, plans, and approaches for mainframe transformations, upgrades, enhancements, and regulatory projects.
- Lead the design, execution, and optimization of test cases for mainframe systems (COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, CICS), covering functional, integration, and regression testing.
- Oversee the defect lifecycle; review, log, and triage defects; collaborate proactively with development teams for resolution.
- Guide and mentor junior testers, providing technical coaching and sharing best practices across the team.
- Interface with clients, business analysts, developers, and project managers to clarify requirements, communicate test outcomes, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Evaluate opportunities for test automation and continuous improvement within mainframe delivery pipelines. Implement test automation frameworks and reusable assets where feasible.
- Prepare high-quality test documentation, status updates, risk assessments, and progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to Deloitte and client quality standards, compliance requirements, and SDLC processes throughout the test lifecycle

Qualifications
Must Have Skills / Project Experience:
- 7-9 years of hands-on experience in IBM mainframe systems (z/OS, TSO/ISPF, JCL, COBOL, DB2, CICS, IMS, VSAM)
- Working knowledge of mainframe testing tools (e.g., CA7, File-AID, Abend-AID, IBM Debug Tool)
- Experience in test data management, batch processing, and data migration for mainframe environments
- Hands-on experience in automation testing using selenium with good knowledge on JAVA/ C#/ Python.
- Ability to handle exceptions, file I/O, API interactions, and database using Selenium
- Understanding how to manage test data effectively, including creating, maintaining, and using test data sets.
- Experience in BDD/TestNG Hybrid/ Data/ Keyword framework in a cross-browser environment.
- Experience in analyzing Data Mappings, Functional requirements and converting them into test scenarios / cases.
- Experience in different test phases with standardized QA Processes
- Experience with QA specific tools for test management, test execution progress, defect tracking and triaging.
- Experience in different SDLC/STLC lifecycles and methodologies.
- Understanding of Test Strategy & Test Planning
- Experience in defect logging, tracking, and closing defects
- Experience in test status reporting and managing a small team of 2-3 members (for tenured consultants)
- Strong understanding of different software development life cycles (Agile, waterfall) and contemporary software quality assurance processes and automated tools
- Flexibility to adapt and apply innovation to varied business domain and apply technical solutioning and learnings to use cases across business domains and industries
Good to Have:
- Exposure to automation tools compatible with mainframe systems, and scripting skills (such as Python or REXX) for automating tests.
- Familiarity with integrating mainframe testing into continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins or Git.
- Experience with testing interfaces between mainframe and other systems, including SOAP/REST APIs using tools like Postman or SoapUI.
- Understanding of mainframe performance monitoring and security testing, including the use of relevant tools and compliance awareness.
- Ability to clearly document results, collaborate with stakeholders, and provide strategic testing insights.
Education:
• B.E./B. Tech/M.C.A./M.Sc. (CS) degree or equivalent from accredited university
