Canada Reporting & Analytics collaborates across Talent and the business to uncover data-driven insights to solve business challenges across the talent lifecycle and enable transformational change.
Canada Reporting and Analytics is the hub for Deloitte Talent Canada Data, helping the Canada offices with talent data and analytical needs. The data we provide, and our consultative services are used by different groups of the firm to drive people strategy in headcount forecast, retention, hiring, compensation, learning, and resource management.
The team is focused on developing business-aligned solutions that provide enhanced employee experience through innovative solutions that are efficient and effective. Our goal is to deliver high-quality service through world-class technology solutions, strategic reporting, data visualization, and analytics.
Work you’ll do
As an Analyst— Canada reporting & analytics team, you will interact with business stakeholders to assess the requirements and provide reports. Not only will you work independently, but you’ll also collaborate with a diverse group of talent professionals and team members. This would also require you to be involved in all stages of reporting (extraction, data formatting, execution, and delivery). You’ll use our tools, technology, and your other responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and deliver scheduled cadence-based and ad hoc reports for Talent processes (including self/peer review), adhering to the governance matrix and tight deadlines.
- Extract, reconcile, and analyze data from PeopleSoft, SuccessFactors, Cognos, ServiceNow, Tableau (and related sources); cross-reference outputs across systems to ensure accuracy.
- Build/modify and schedule recurring PS Queries and reports in PeopleSoft.
- Build/modify reports in SuccessFactors.
- Build/modify and distribute dashboards/reports in Cognos and Tableau, including scheduling and stakeholder distribution.
- Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, confirm scope, align on timelines, and deliver fit-for-purpose reports and dashboards.
- Collaborate with the Canada onshore team; coordinate handoffs to ensure smooth execution.
- Adhere to service-level agreement and quality standards for standard and ad hoc deliverables.
- Ensure data integrity by validating outputs, investigating anomalies/illogical results, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions (including driving fixes with appropriate teams).
- Identify process gaps early and support remediation; assess risks in the process and implement mitigation plans aligned to governance and controls.
- Research and rationalize existing reports to improve efficiency through standardization, streamlining, and automation.
- Automate and operationalize reporting using Excel VBA/macros, Excel Power Query, and platform scheduling capabilities (e.g., Cognos auto-schedule, PeopleSoft scheduling); monitor and troubleshoot automations/schedules to ensure reliable, on-time delivery.
- Maintain and manage the internal team distribution list via the MIM portal.
- Create and maintain SOPs/runbooks and reference documentation for assigned reports and automations; deliver knowledge-sharing sessions to build team capability.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and change readiness by validating outputs, identifying gaps, and ensuring smooth transitions.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, independent problem-solving, and high analytical rigor.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma from an accredited institution (or equivalent).
- 2–3 years of applied experience in data collection, analysis, and advanced reporting/analytics (preferably with people/HR data).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, functions, shortcuts) and strong analytical capability with large datasets.
- Hands-on experience with relevant tools: SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, SuccessFactors, PeopleSoft, Excel VBA/macros, Excel Power Query, ServiceNow.
- Proven ability to gather requirements, assess complexity, define timelines, and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing requests, and communicate clearly with stakeholders across time zones.
- Strong documentation skills (SOPs, runbooks, reference guides) and strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, OneNote, Word, Outlook, Teams).
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)
- Prior experience supporting Talent/HR processes (self/peer reviews, workforce metrics, HR operations reporting).
- Advanced dashboarding and data storytelling (Tableau/Cognos best practices).
- Experience operating in a governance-driven environment (approvals, controls, auditability).
- Exposure to ServiceNow incident/request workflows, including SLA tracking.
