Business Center Assistant—Proofreading Specialist (Career level 3) Analyst

Proofread complex business documents for accuracy, such as financial statements, presentations, proposals, and other client deliverables. Check grammar, syntax, punctuation, citations; foot numbers; and formatting per Deloitte brand standards.

Work you’ll do

•     Proofread documents for mathematical footing, format, consistency, grammar, syntax, spelling, accuracy, and adherence to Deloitte brand standards. Use proofreaders’ marks to indicate recommended changes.

•     Consult with partners and managers to resolve footing and verbiage problems within documents. Suggest rewrites for improved readability and clarity.

•     Maintain a thorough knowledge of Deloitte brand standards to offer accurate guidance for both clients and ABC professionals.

•     Produce quality work in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and client expectations for quality and accuracy.

•     Know when to question data and seek resolution before proceeding with the project to eliminate inefficiency and errors.

•     Maintain consistency of format and grammar in all projects with great attention to detail.

•     Assess projects to determine the best work method for efficient and accurate deliverables.

•     Provide direction and offer instruction as appropriate. Work with other ABC professionals to ensure adherence to brand standards.

•     Work closely with other word processors and proofreaders to share best practices.

•     Recommend new or enhanced applications and processes based on production requirements and experience.

•     Monitor deadlines and ensure timely delivery of projects. Negotiate deadlines when necessary.

Key skills required

•     Mastery-level skills in English grammar and Intermediate level skills in MS Word, Excel, and Basic skills in PowerPoint for formatting presentations. Can effectively use other commonly-used software, such as Outlook, in the completion of work.

•     Clear, concise verbal and written communication. Must be able to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the Firm.

•     The ideal candidate must possess a flexible work style and be able to work beyond the normal schedule during peak periods in order to meet deadlines.

•     Should be able to work effectively, with minimal day-to-day supervision, and within a team environment to significantly contribute to the success of the team.

•     Must possess a client-service mindset and a desire to take on tough and challenging projects. Will proactively investigate and mitigate risks, coordinating with team members and others to resolve and escalate issues as necessary.

•Team player with a positive attitude. Must possess excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate professionally during stressful situations, maintaining composure and resolving problems effectively and positively.

•     Attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and great follow-up skills are essential.

•     Able to follow directions, manage multiple tasks in a high-volume environment, and respond to urgent requests in a positive manner.

•     Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

•     Assist with prioritizing incoming projects to meet deadlines and providing a quality review to ensure service standards are met.

•     Knowledge of proofreaders’ marks and a thorough knowledge of grammar, syntax, spelling, and punctuation rules are required.

•     Competency in mathematics required for checking accuracy in financial reports and other documents.

•     Working knowledge of the American English language is preferred.



The team

The Administrative Business Center (ABC) provides remote administrative services to Deloitte professionals across all offices in a business center environment. Deloitte’s ABC team works on financial statements, proposals, letters, presentations, marketing materials, and client deliverables that must be error-free and of professional quality, meeting Deloitte brand standards.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in any subject with 35 years of relevant experience

Work experience

A graduate and 3–5 years with a concentration in English is preferred. Intermediate level in Microsoft Word and Excel; Basic PowerPoint. Knowledge of proofreading marks, track changes, and footing numbers.

Specific skill set required

Rules of grammar, syntax, spelling, and punctuation. Intermediate Level in Microsoft Word and Excel; Basic Microsoft PowerPoint
