Deloitte Consulting’s Strategy and Analytics Offering Portfolio helps clients achieve breakthrough value by developing integrated strategies to win in their chosen markets and by architecting data driven programs that transform their business.

Sustainability Strategy & Transformation practice, as a part of the Strategy & Analytics Offering Portfolio, partners with clients across industries and functions to position environmental, social and governance strategy as a long-term value creation mechanism – for organizations, society, and the planet.

Our practice develops end-to-end, integrated sustainability strategy at the enterprise level and delivers targeted environmental and social transformation projects for our clients’ business units and functions. With a firm belief that a strong ESG strategy is critical to a strong corporate strategy, we drive growth, profitability, and impact for our clients through an integrated approach to sustainability.


The Team

Sustainability Strategy & Transformation Team focusses on crafting an organization’s sustainability strategy to provide the greatest return and value for all stakeholder groups. We also support our clients across their sustainability journey end to end from ideation to execution and maintenance – aligning profit to purpose, transforming and decarbonizing operations, and reporting on progress.

Our Team hence comprises of leading business and impact strategy practitioners that each contribute unique capabilities and insights – including climate change, renewable energy, supply chain, corporate governance, risk assessment, Sustainability metrics measurement & valuation; ESG reporting, DEI, philanthropy etc.

Work you will do

You will be expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways, including:

  • Providing service excellence by identifying key client business issues, determining client needs by supplementing the standard assessment techniques and tools with innovative approaches, evaluating, and validating analysis and developing recommendations for the client in the context of the overall engagement
  • Contribute to multiple work-threads of large, complex engagements, with the high-quality deliverables
  • Participate in the development and presentation of proposals for business development activities
  • Develop practical solutions and methodologies; Contribute to sustainability "thought-ware" and "point-of-view" documents; participate in thought leadership events and opportunities

Required Experience and Skills

ESG Experience Required

  • Fair understanding of key sustainability topics including – ESG Strategy, Net Zero targets and decarbonation, circularity, natural assets, equity, lifecycle assessment, regenerative agriculture, Decarbonization, Carbon measurement, Hydrogen experience, etc.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in a Consulting environment or working for leading organizations with sustainability focus
  • Working knowledge of existing and evolving sustainability landscape, industry trends, standards, key stakeholders etc.
  • Ability to define trends across industries and articulate their impact to clients’ business and strategic choices, particularly as it relates to sustainability driven focus areas and opportunities for innovation

Core Consulting Skills Needed

  • Logical structuring - Structured approach to problem solving and ability to perform root cause analysis of client problems
  • Analytical thinking - Ability to perform detailed, quantitative analysis and research (primary and secondary). Synthesize and present insights and recommendations from data.
  • Clear and concise communication - Conduct client interviews, participate in workshops/trainings and present recommendations. Effective presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with people across Technical, Operations and Business teams
  • Good client presence – Interact and build relationships with clients and other team members. Experience working with senior executives crafting and implementing strategies for growth and margin improvement at the corporate, business, or product level
  • Deadline-oriented and quality focused – Develop and own the development of deliverables, manage specific work-thread, develop plans for components of engagement
  • Collaboration - Be able to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels. Be able to prioritize tasks, manage change in scope, work on multiple assignments, and raise concerns/questions where appropriate
  • Network - Ability to chart one’s own career and build networks within the organization
  • Market Focus - Exposure to working in global non-India geographies (preferably US) and / or interacting with global stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • MBA or MS from a premier (Tier-1) school in India or International  
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post MS/MBA experience
  • 1 to 2 years with sustainability focus
