Assistant Manager – GFS, Blackline Reconciliations, Deloitte Support Services India Private Limited

     

Role Description:

An Assistant Manager could either be a specialist or a team leader of a small team or a specialist Finance.

   

Role objective:

To manage Blackline Reconciliations Team and supervise the adherence to Deloitte Global Reconciliation Policy.

Work you will do

As an Assistant Manager in USI supporting GFS- Blackline team, you will focus on following areas:

Balance sheet  Reconciliation Approver Role:

·       Examine Supporting Documentation: Scrutinize backup documents (invoices, statements, schedules) attached to each reconciliation for adequacy and relevance.

·       Assess Accuracy: Confirm that balances match between the general ledger and supporting records, and that all reconciling items are correctly identified and explained.

·       Check Compliance: Ensure reconciliations adhere to company policies, accounting standards (such as GAAP or IFRS), and regulatory requirements.

·       Formal Sign-Off: Provide documented approval (often via workflow tools like BlackLine) for reconciliations deemed complete and accurate.

·       Escalation of Issues: Flag and escalate material discrepancies, unresolved items, or process gaps to management or relevant stakeholders.

·       Identify Risks: Spot trends or recurring issues that may indicate control weaknesses, fraud risks, or process inefficiencies.

·       Recommend Remediation: Suggest corrective actions or process improvements to address identified risks.

·       Work with Preparers: Communicate feedback, request clarifications, and ensure that preparers understand the requirements for quality reconciliations.

·       Coordinate with Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audit requests by providing approved reconciliations and explanations.

·       Process Enhancement: Participate in initiatives to streamline reconciliation processes, automate controls, or improve documentation standards.

·       Training & Guidance: Mentor team members on best practices for reconciliation quality and compliance.

The team:

Blackline is an automated Reconciliation tool where the Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations will be performed and presented in a defined Format. Reconciliation is a process whereby an account balance, at a point in time as per the general ledger (“GL”), is substantiated by independent supporting documentation to validate the Accuracy, Completeness, Valuation and Allocation of the balance.

The team’s competency spans several different proficiencies including:

·  Knowledge of Balance Sheet Reconciliation

·  Experience with understanding entries that get posted to different account types

·  Skilled at working with numbers and in detailed analysis

·  Strong understanding of accounting principles

·  Knowledge and experience with journal entries and with GL reconciliations

·  Ability to ensure a high level of overall quality and accuracy

·  Ability to work well & multi-task in a fast paced, time sensitive environment

USI supporting GFS aims to provide a fully managed shared service that:

·       Drives standardization of select, skilled-based processes that are common across business functions and member firms

·       Leverages a single technology platform

·       Acts in support of member firm Business Finance teams so that they may, in turn, focus primarily on internal clients and value-add activities

·       Implements leading practices and drives continuous improvement

·       Delivers to agreed Service Level Expectations (SLEs)

Educational Qualifications and requirements:

·       Education: Graduate in Finance (B.Com/M.Com/CA-Inter/CA/MBA Finance).

·       Experience: Over 7 years of hands-on experience in account reconciliation processes.

·       BlackLine Expertise: Proficient BlackLine platform

·       Technical Skills: Experienced with ServiceNow and SAP S/4HANA systems.

·       Testing Experience: Skilled in end-user testing of financial applications to ensure functionality and accuracy is an addaded advantage

Location: Hyderabad

Work timings: 11 AM to 8 PM or 2 PM to 11 PM, can change according to business needs
