USI Tax offers you opportunities to learn and support U.S. and other countries (such as Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom) taxation practice, a popular career option.

We are leading its clients through the tax transformation taking place in the marketplace, offering a broad range of fully integrated tax services by combining technology and tax technical resources to comply with reporting requirements, uncover insights and deploy smarter approaches for navigating an increasingly complex global environment
The Team

Our "Global Investment and Innovation Incentives (Gi³)" service line is embedded within Deloitte’s T&L practice and focused on advising companies in their pursuit of the right incentives by developing and executing an effective incentives strategy for their specific needs. The large majority of our Gi³ team members are scientists and engineers. Gi³ team then offers specific related knowledge and added value consultancy. This expertise allows our clients to take advantage of various incentives and grants related to their priorities in terms of Research & Development [R&D], innovation and sustainability. We are principally a UK-based team with colleagues in the Deloitte USI at Bangalore and are looking to further build our Bangalore capability.

The team uses Incentives Hub to operationalize incentive assessments, workflow management, and stakeholder collaboration in a structured digital environment. Incentives Hub (formerly myGi) is Deloitte’s technology-enabled platform for managing the incentive lifecycle more efficiently and transparently. The platform is designed to support the identification, assessment, tracking, and administration of incentive opportunities by combining tax and business process requirements with structured workflow, documentation, collaboration, and reporting capabilities. By connecting multiple stakeholder groups and providing access to a broad library of global incentive programs, Incentives Hub helps teams make more informed decisions, improve process consistency, and support compliant execution. This role will play a key part in shaping how the platform is enhanced and adopted for UK R&D relief and related tax technology use cases.

What we’re looking for
We are looking for a Business Analyst to support the adoption and implementation of a tax technology tool that performs UK R&D Relief / RDEC analysis. The role will sit between the technology development team and the business/project team, including colleagues who are client-facing, and will be responsible for translating business needs, tax process requirements, and regulatory expectations into clear functional requirements, user stories, process designs, and test scenarios.
This is a hands-on delivery role for someone who is comfortable working across tax, operations, product, and engineering teams and can help ensure the platform is compliant, usable, and scalable.
The successful candidate will help shape how the tool supports RDEC analysis within the current UK R&D tax relief framework, such as the merged regime effective for accounting periods starting on or after 1 April 2024, associated data capture requirements, and HMRC-oriented workflow needs such as digital filing support, pre-notification, and additional information requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as the primary bridge between client-facing business/project teams and the technology development team, ensuring requirements are understood, prioritized, and translated into workable product features.
• Lead discovery sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews to capture functional and non-functional requirements for UK R&D relief / RDEC analysis processes.
• Document business processes, user journeys, decision points, data requirements, business rules, and exception scenarios.
• Translate tax and operational requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and functional specifications for developers and product teams.
• Support the design of rule logic for qualifying activities, eligible expenditure categories, UK versus overseas cost treatment, and other R&D relief decision points.
• Work with tax SMEs and client-facing teams to validate that platform outputs align with policy intent, claim processes, and user expectations.
• Define data requirements for claim preparation, including project narratives, staff time, qualifying costs, uncertainties addressed, and supporting evidence.
• Support integration and data mapping activities across source systems, spreadsheets, finance data, and tax technology platforms.
• Prepare and execute UAT plans, test cases, defect triage, and business sign-off support.
• Develop training content, user guidance, and adoption materials for business and client-facing teams.
• Monitor regulatory and process changes affecting UK R&D relief and assess product impacts and backlog priorities.
Required Experience
• 3 - 4 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or in a similar role within technology implementation or business transformation.
• Experience working between business stakeholders and development/product teams in a delivery environment.
• Exposure to tax processes, tax technology, finance transformation, or UK R&D tax / corporation tax workflows.
• Experience with requirements gathering, process mapping, user stories, backlog refinement, and testing.
• Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or hybrid delivery models.
Required Skills
• Strong business analysis toolkit, including requirements elicitation, process design, gap analysis, stakeholder management, documentation, and UAT coordination.
• Ability to simplify complex tax or technical concepts for non-specialist audiences i.e., client-facing teams and technical developers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and comfort working with structured and unstructured data.
• Awareness of data governance, audit trail, and evidence requirements in regulated or closely scrutinized processes.
Desirable Skills
• Understanding of UK R&D tax relief / RDEC concepts in general or any Tax technology product.
• Experience in Tax Technology team within a professional services/ Big4 environment.
