Cross-Industry Researcher | Data and Quants Specialist
Job Profile
This role focuses on delivering rapid, data-driven research and quantitative analysis to support high-impact TMT
initiatives. Responsibilities include market sizing, forecasting, financial analysis, and data modeling using primary,
secondary, and proprietary sources. The role supports a variety of TMT Center’s annual flagship and recurring
projects that include: Global TMT Predictions, Annual TMT Industry Outlooks, TMT Charts, and Charticle series. In
this role, the professional will work closely with US- and India-based TMT Center team members to help produce
evidence-based and actionable insights for senior stakeholders and clients.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Quantitative research and analysis:
- Conduct market sizing and estimations, develop forecast/prediction/scenario models, perform financial analysis, and develop data-modeling using a combination of primary insights, secondary sources, and proprietary data sources to help develop solid foundational data-driven model – which will serve as basis and premise for the Center to shape sector/sub-sector focused perspectives, narratives, and materials that support our industry practice leaders/business stakeholders/external clients.
- Understand the Center’s project needs (based on background, scope, market context, target audience, and intended outcomes) and work closely (and liaise) with Data Science and other specialized teams within Deloitte – to identify and apply the right data source and research methods to bring sophistication and rigor to our analytical approach.
- Analyze and visualize large datasets (e.g., their patterns, trends, group-based analysis, etc.) using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SQL, R, Python, and MS Excel to generate actionable insights.
Quick response PoVs and articles:
- Support production of quick-turn, rapid-response articles grounded in data-backed perspectives to keep pace with the fast-changing and evolving TMT market developments (e.g., new products, major market moves, large M&As and investments, policy/regulatory changes, tech supply-chain shifts etc.) – including impact assessment and scenario-based analysis.
Ideation/Sensing/Scanning:
- Perform secondary research focused on ongoing scanning and tracking marketplace trends and developments across TMT, interconnecting quantitative and qualitative data/insights from diverse sources and synthesizing all the findings into consumable, easy-to-digest deliverables and collaterals - to support ideation and development of research projects.
- Develop reports and collaterals, and support variety of content formats and exec dashboards:
- Create compelling research deliverable reports, decks, collaterals, dashboards, short articles—with strong storytelling and data visualization.
- Create and enhance digital research assets (e.g., dashboards, custom GPTs etc.) with automation and GenAI features to improve accessibility and impact for TMT practice leaders.
Required Experience and Skills
- Experience: 4–6 years in research/analytics roles, preferably within the technology, media, or telecommunications sectors (consulting, market research, or think-tank experience preferred) with exposure to agile, dynamic and insight-led projects.
- Research skills: Proven expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research—covering a wide range of data sources (industry, market, company, and proprietary datasets) and depth of information derived from financial analysis, market sizing and forecasting, validation/triangulation, and scenario or projection modeling.
- Analytical rigor: Ability to identify and validate relevant data points to support points of view (PoVs), and to develop robust frameworks for data projections, market sizing, forecasting, and scenario-based modeling, ensuring assumptions are transparent, defensible, and decision-oriented.
- Technical proficiency: Strong command of diverse analysis methodologies (statistical, time-series, comparative, regression, correlation etc.) and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or R). Experience with one or more AI-assisted tools is a must (ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, Gemini).
- Analytical storytelling: Ability to distill through extensive research and data to generate relevant and actionable insights, structure them logically and communicate complex findings clearly in written and visual formats.
- Industry knowledge (Desirable but not mandatory): Familiarity with one or more emerging technology areas (e.g. AI/agents, robotics, cloud, edge computing, 5G/6G, gaming, media streaming, sports and live entertainment).
