Server Engineer (Senior Analyst) – Infrastructure Server Solutions
The ITS Operations function is accountable for the delivery of all internal technology infrastructure – including Server, Storage & Backup, Cloud Infra, Exchange, Skype, File Services as well as platforms underpinning SQL, SAP, Enterprise (IT) Security Services. It also provides technology that supports the service lines in delivering client facing or client engagements as part of its Client IT services
Work you’ll do
Infrastructure Server Solutions team manages & supports the virtual estate comprising of Hyper-V & VMware. This also includes the ClientIT Hyper-V environment which is a chargeable solution to the business. The team are also responsible for building physical servers and work closely with the Systems Management & storage teams to provision infrastructure for projects & core services. Building Linux servers is another offering but with a more limited support function. The team are primarily a 3rd line support function and a 24 x 7 on-call Rota are in place of out of hours support.
Responsibilities
Operational
• Perform daily Server operational tasks, space provisioning, monitoring, troubleshoot issues (e.g. latency, performance etc.…), and initiate corrective action
• Responsible for Server Operating System, SCVMM and Hyper-V upgrades
• Manage the Microsoft Hyper-V administration
• Maintain server build images to ensure latest updates are applied
• Build & support Linux servers
• Troubleshoot OS level issues on Linux servers & Windows servers and appliances
• Address adhoc requests & changes
• Perform DR tests for virtual platforms
• Create documentation/knowledge base articles for other support members/teams to follow
• Perform problem management and incident correlation on re-occurring issues; suggest and document workarounds and solutions.
• Maintain Server Systems CMDB assets
• Work with vendors where necessary to ensure software and hardware are keep within supported versions
• Be part of a Server team ‘on call’ rota outside of normal working hours to help resolve major incidents
- Process improvement tracking and continual service improvement management
- Able to work as part of a geographically separated team.
• Ability to solve problems, quickly and completely and to communicate them clearly to peers, customers and management
• Troubleshooting and Break-fix (Incidents & Service requests)
Location: Hyderabad
Work shift Timings: 02:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Qualifications
· Bachelor of Engineering/ Bachelor of Technology
· 4 to 6 years’ experience in a similar role and Enterprise organisation
Essential
· Experience in a similar role and Enterprise organization
· Strong experience in managing an enterprise Hyper-V platform.
· Good knowledge of Windows Server operating systems including MS Clustering, PowerShell, Active Directory, DNS and Group Policy
· Work with vendors where necessary to ensure software and hardware are keep within supported versions
· Good understanding of Cyber security & vulnerability management
· Good understanding of storage technologies
· Experience in monitoring / managing Server estate and infrastructure.
· Knowledge of monitoring tools SCOM & Solarwinds
· Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal
· ITIL V3 Service Operations knowledge preferred (Event Management, Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management)
· Knowledge on vendor management
· Be able to communicate effectively, technical issues with technical and non-technical audience.
Good to have
• ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation
• Knowledge on HP C7000 & Synergy hardware
