Job Role Executive Summary

The CBS BQA performance testing team provide end-to-end performance testing services to projects across the firm’s multiple service lines and regions. This role involves both working independently as a performance test lead on multiple projects, and with other team members when needed, in delivering performance test services to aggressive deadlines. The person will be responsible for taking technical ownership of allocated performance testing projects and will report on regular progress to multiple project teams and the Performance Test Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the performance test manager & team members on multiple projects & applications, to deliver high quality performance test services.  
  • Work directly with multiple application / project teams as needed and be involved in all aspects of performance testing – NFRs assessment, test planning, design, build, execution, analysis & reporting.
  • Assist team members when needed with resolution of technical issues around test scripting & application performance issues.
  • Create, design & deliver performance test plans, test approach, test scenarios, scripts & executions, interim and final reports.
  • Create CI/CD pipelines for performance tests execution as required by projects.
  • Help the performance test manager with enhancing existing performance test frameworks, provide inputs to future roadmap and strategy tasks.

Technical Competencies

Minimum 5+ years of experience in all aspects of performance testing – should possess strong knowledge of performance test methods, tooling & understanding of web and cloud-based application architectures.

  • Strong ability to work independently and within teams to deliver performance testing on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Must have excellent hands-on & advanced-level expertise with using the LoadRunner & JMeter toolset / plug-ins for complex performance test scenarios design, scripting, execution, analysis & reporting.
  • Experience with using any APM / performance monitoring tools such as Solar Winds, AppDynamics & Dynatrace. Or Azure Insights and AWS CloudWatch
  • Strong experience in scripting against MFA and SSO enabled applications, implementing complex tests such as using security tokens, web certificates & cookies.
  • Hands on experience in cloud-hosted / SaaS application performance testing
  • Hands on experience in embedding performance testing into CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps / Jenkins and LoadRunner plug-ins.
  • Performance testing experience of large-scale applications and cross platform systems – multiple OS, cloud / SaaS vs On-premises, using APIs & middleware webservices.
  • Should have worked with large project teams and complex web application environments to deliver successful performance testing outcomes against aggressive time deadlines.
  • Should have experience working with multiple project teams (business, technical & support) for info gathering, project tracking and issues resolution.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Good knowledge of GIT or other version control systems
  • Strong experience using browser developer tools & utilities such as Fiddler/ WireShark

Desirable

  • Web application development, programming, and DB SQL skills
  • Knowledge of continuous performance testing approaches
  • Knowledge of performance engineering & reporting methods - capturing metrics from logs/devices, storing in DB (such as InfluxDB) and visualising data using dashboards (such as Grafana)  
  • Used other performance test tools such as NeoLoad, Gatling or WebLoad
  • Have used functional test automation tools.
  • Experience with ‘user endpoint’ performance testing such as on Windows & Mac machine desktop applications
  • Knowledge of mobile performance testing (iOS and Android apps)
  • Experience with working on complex platforms for performance testing such as SalesForce, MS Dynamics and SAP.
  • Any ISTQB Foundation Level certificate (or equivalent)
