Analyst – Application Packaging - Deloitte Support Services India Private Limited

Job Description:

This role is responsible for all aspects of application packaging on a Microsoft Windows Laptop platform producing both standard MSI packages and also virtualized packages using technologies such as Microsoft App-V. Packages will be delivered through either automated build processes or Microsoft System Center Configuration Management (SCCM). This incumbent is responsible for assisting in the creation and maintenance of application packaging standards and the build, test and publishing of application packages.

  Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Good knowledge of development life cycle. Awareness of phases such as requirements definition, system design and testing / QA and transition to production.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Windows Operating Systems and Windows Installer.
  • 2-3 years application packaging background with preferably experience in Installsheild application packaging tool suite and other relevant Microsoft development tools such as Sysinternals.
  • Work as part of a team responsible for the definition of strategy for End User Technology Architecture.
  • Responsible for packaging applications to DTT standards and includes: MSI Creation, ICE Validation, Conflict Analysis and Unit testing.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager-SCCM
  • Good working knowledge of Software deployment using SCCM
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of application packaging and deployment using programs and advertisements
  • Detail oriented; packages must be delivered accurately
  • Ability to script in PowerShell, VBS, and Batch
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft App-V technology.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with management, business teams and IT teams is a requirement.
  • Troubleshoot and work with service consumers to resolve installer issues
  • A strong desire to produce quality work, adopt standards and adhere to those standards
  • Must be able to think out of the box.  The ability to troubleshoot non-standard issues/undocumented issues, to look at the big picture and see how a problem fits in and determine a solution that fits within the existing framework
  • Provide input to assist with continual improvement 

Additional responsibilities regardless of team include:

  • ccountable for execution according to established standards, procedures, and processes
  • Monitor the Service Desk system
  • Respond to and manage service issues and problems
  • The incumbent must be professional and confident, able to work without constant supervision, they must be self-motivated.
  • They must demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff at all levels.
  • They must demonstrate a desire to deliver a quality product with an attention

People Management

Knowledge Sharing / Documentation

  • Contribute to, produce and maintain processes, procedures, operational and architectural documentation
  • Change Control - Ensure compliance with Processes and adherence to standards and documentation
  • Assist in training new staff in technical processes and procedures
  • Work with GTS leadership and applications teams in reviewing new documentation

Education (degree): Bachelors Degree            

Other: College Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

Years of Experience: 1 to 3 years

Shift Timings: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM (occasionally rotational)
