Government and Public Services (GPS) Strategy – Deputy Manager – CoRe Research & Insights – Deloitte Support Services India Private Limited

The team supports, develops, writes, and presents market intelligence outputs for internal practitioners across the globe powering Deloitte’s market strategies with insights.

Work you’ll do

·       The incumbent will play a significant role in developing new account relationships and designing market-facing strategic insights solutions for senior leadership in Deloitte for their business development, client engagement, practice development, or eminence agendas in the Government and Public Services industry.

·     Drive consultative discussions to engage prospective users and gauge their current and future needs. Suggest alternatives and design customized solutions to meet the unique needs of diverse customer groups.

·       Responsible for the account management of a set of existing customers and augmenting client intimacy generating increased demand.

·       Provide consultative research solutions to senior Deloitte practitioners, suggesting alternatives and creative solutions to address clients' and stakeholders' current and anticipatory needs. Take the relationship beyond the transactional level.

·       Connect various pieces of information by identifying patterns and forming logical structures to present a compelling story.

·       Present crisp and actionable insights/recommendations for senior leadership with an acute focus on ‘so-what’ for Deloitte’s clients and businesses

·       Liaise with colleagues from Deloitte offices spread across the globe and stakeholders to understand, refine, and manage project expectations and priorities.

·       Contribute to team-level operational and brainstorming activities.

·       Mentor and coach new members of the team to come up to speed.

Core Skills required.

Scoping

·       Strong understanding of Government and Public Services (GPS) industry-related terms

·       Ability to lead discussions with stakeholders and propose methodologies based on GPS domain knowledge.

·       Ability to clearly understand the research requirements through effective listening, comprehension, and probing skills.

·       Adept in conducting preliminary research to ascertain data availability and estimate time/effort.

·       Use this as input for scope and proactively suggest creative solutions to address the current and anticipatory needs of clients and stakeholders.

Secondary research

·       Ability to find GPS related information from authentic sources in an efficient manner. This would require,

·       Good knowledge of databases, public sources of information, and industry-specific sources

·       Ability to validate/triangulate sources for relevancy and accuracy.

·       Proactively develop new products/services and solutions for delivering insights to new and existing customers

Insight generation

Analytical skills to provide actionable insights to practitioners. This will require,

·       Quantitative analysis of government budgets, spending analysis, contracts analysis

·       Understanding of various strategic / forecasting models and frameworks and applying them as relevant

·       Critical thinking that can help look beyond the obvious and create a hypothesis.

·       Ability to generate extrapolative and forward-looking insights through both qualitative and quantitative analysis.

·       Experience in processing information in compelling visualization with logical structuring

Industry Knowledge

Knowledge of the Government and Public Services Industry (including Health Care, Digital Transformation, Developmental Aid, Infrastructure, Defense, Sustainability etc.) is preferred, especially in terms of:

·       Key performance indicators (KPIs) specific to the industry

·       Understanding of the demand-supply-prices and economic factors driving the KPIs

·       Trends, information sources, and dynamics in the industry

Internal Sales/Business Development

·       A growth mindset that applies to ability to identify and prioritize an outreach plan with new customer groups. Experience in increasing team’s/product visibility by proactively engaging internal/external stakeholders.

·       Ability to negotiate and manage constraints to ensure optimal balance between demand and resourcing.

·       Knowledge of basic CRM tools or approaches are desirable.

·       Experience in cross-selling/up-selling research solutions

·       Identify new growth opportunities for the team’s services.

·       Ability to provide solutions proactively based on current or potential requirements.

Business writing and communication skills

·       Exceptional business writing skills—narrative, appealing, succinct. Should be able to convey complex research ideas in a compelling and easier way through writing.

·       Strong storyboarding skills are preferred.

·       Adept at written communication with stakeholders in adherence to email etiquette.

·       Prior experience in report writing for senior management and/or external publications is an added advantage.

·       Articulate ideas and points of views in a confident and effective manner in client calls during all stages of the project lifecycle

·       Communication should reflect logical thinking and a consultative approach.

·       Exceptional communication skills and should be able to present findings and engage senior leadership.

Qualifications Required:

·       Postgraduate degree from a premier B-school with a work experience of 7-8 years, including at least two years in GPS-specific research/consulting.

·       Exceptional attention to detail, project ownership, and a strong track record of executing high-impact projects and initiatives.

·     Understanding of business operations and macroeconomic dynamics

·       Ability to connect financial metrics with operational activities and macroeconomic events.

·       Excellent business writing, report writing, and communication skills.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Years of Experience:

·       7-8 years’ experience in business research in client service or captive setup

·       Client-service exposure or experience in working with senior leadership directly in a global set-up is preferred.

Location: Hyderabad/Bengaluru/Gurugram

Shift timings: 11 A.M. to 8 P.M.

Skills:

·       Clear and concise communication. Strong written and oral communication skills – ability to convey complex information crisply and concisely to senior executives.

·       Logical structuring – a structured approach to problem-solving and the ability to perform root cause analysis of client problems.

·       Ability to synthesize data into meaningful conclusions and recommendations.

·       Ability to handle detailed work independently. Practical, hands-on, and get things done.

·       Ability to connect financial metrics with operational activities and macroeconomic events

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Solid research skills and familiarity with various research tools
