Position Summary

Job Description
This position collaborates with Application Teams, Member Firms, Business Analysts, IT Architects, Development Team Members, and Infrastructure Operations to provide performance management services and expertise across the entire service catalog of GTS. This position provides performance planning, testing, execution, analysis, custom development, and recommendations across the Infrastructure and the Application.

Responsibilities
  
Role Specific Responsibilities
• Provide technical input into planning efforts
• Create technical testing strategy and technical scope
• Prepare, execute, and monitor all testing activities
• Develop custom software to facilitate testing activities
• Implement monitoring at application as well as database level of AUT
• Debug issues in custom testing harnesses
• Maintain test lab including the performance tools and the performance environment
• Report testing defects and non-compliance to requirements
• Design, develop and maintain testing hardware assets
• Examine alternative methods and tools as technology changes
• Develop and implement production performance monitoring and alerting
• Provide insights and recommendations on performance for specific applications and our global architecture.
• Build tools and simulators to identify (and help others identify) performance bottlenecs at the micro-level
• Partner with our application development to design & implement performance improvements
• Practice and enforce Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Model and analyze user loads to drive system architecture and design direction
• Embrace, own and model the DevOps culture and behaviors

People Management
• As needed, support technical team leadership

Knowledge Sharing / Documentation
• Advanced performance reports and dashboards
• Testing metrics and recommendation reports

Technical Skills
  • Experience with the following tools
    • OpenText Load Runner –
      • Advanced skills w/ min of 2 years’ experience
      • Developing custom scripts using C and SQL using non-standard protocols
      • Experience writing scripts with no record and playback
      • Experience scripting on a non-web based application using custom controls
    • OpenText Quick Test Professional – Advanced skills, developing custom scripts without use of record and playback
    • Microsoft Visual Studio
    • Perform (or similar) data creation and analysis
    • Selenium and iMacros
    • Write and debug C# and JAVA code
    • Performance Testing Cloud Hosted Applications (Azure/AWS/GCP)
  •  Basic to Intermediate knowledge on Omniture / NetMon / Fiddler / HttpWatch / WireShark / PAL / LogParser
  •  Basic to Intermediate knowledge on Load Modelling
  •  Basic to Intermediate knowledge on PowerShell / VB Scripting / C / JavaScript / C# / Java / Python
  •  Basic to Intermediate knowledge on Windows/Linux OS Internals, SQL Server 2016/2019, Oracle, MongoDB, SAP Hana, IIS, SharePoint, Salesforce, JVM
  •  Basic to Intermediate knowledge on Content Delivery Network (CDN)
  •  Basic to Intermediate knowledge on Application Performance Management (New Relic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace)
  •  Basic to Intermediate knowledge on Monitoring Cloud Services (Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Google Stackdriver)
  •  Basic to Intermediate knowledge on Monitoring Containers and Kubernetes cluster
  •  Experience in performance diagnostics & analysis, capacity planning, and architecting for performance
  •  Detailed knowledge of Solutions Architecture technologies and processes and is capable of providing professional advice and guidance to our stakeholders. Has the ability to integrate multiple technologies and capability into the solutions architecture design.
  •  Demonstrated ability to specify data collection and thresholds and to analyze complex results. Provides recommendations or solutions including basics linear trending. Exhibits knowledge of management reporting process and guidelines.
  •  Contributes to and is consulted during infrastructure architectural activities by applying select architectural techniques and technical knowledge. Understands and leverages infrastructure architectural principles for cross-functional purposes. Works with vendors as well as internally.
  •  Knowledge of performance testing process and methodology for different types of software projects. Knowledge of standard performance testing processes and techniques. Strong ability to understand business requirements. Provides strong analysis of performance testing results.
  •  Understands technology and technical concepts; Produces written materials with a consistent approach and tone; Communicates effectively with stakeholders and project team members regarding technical concepts
  •  Demonstrates awareness of major external technology vendors and understands critical information about future-oriented technologies.
