Manager – Consumer Products (Consumer Industry Center)

Overview of the team:

Deloitte's Research & Insights (R&I) team provides global thought leadership, elevates our practitioners as thought leaders, and boosts Deloitte's brand in the marketplace. Within the broader R&I, the Deloitte Consumer Industry Center (or the Consumer Center) is one of the industry teams.

The Consumer Center conducts differentiating evidence-driven thought leadership to influence conversation(s) at scale and to initiate meaningful engagement with clients. Four sectors —Automotive; Consumer Products; Retail; and Transportation, Hospitality, and Services — together constitute the Consumer Center.

Job profile:

The incumbent will contribute to advancing the Consumer Products' research and thought leadership initiatives through developing white papers, in-depth research reports, case studies, articles, research insights for client/conference presentations, etc. The candidate will join the Hyderabad, India-based Consumer Center team and closely work with the US and India teams to execute projects aligning with the sector research agenda.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of the Consumer Products sector thoughtware through:

? Doing white space analysis to identify new research topics and supporting the development of research proposals and research plan

? Conduct in-depth primary and secondary research to form or support the hypotheses and generate insights.

? Research activities will include designing surveys, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, deploying advanced statistical methods, interviewing senior executives within and outside Deloitte, conducting focus-group discussions, and carrying out third-party research.

? Independently author research reports, point-of-views (PoVs), articles, and case studies, to name a few.

? Develop research insights decks with recommendations to assist senior team members in internal and external meetings.

? Present research insights to Deloitte's sector practitioners and at external events/conferences

• Develop an understanding of Deloitte's solutions, services, and offerings

• Work in a team environment and build a network within R&I and teams across US India offices

• Actively use social media to share and promote thoughtware reports and amplify their reach

• Guide junior team members to understand and execute research studies

Requisite experience and skills

• 9+ years of experience in research roles focused on US/global Consumer Products sector – Food and Beverage, Household goods, Personal care, Apperal & Footware, Agribusiness, etc. Exposure to Retail sector research is desirable

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. A good story teller adept at logical structuring and storyboarding.

• Cited as an author/hands on experience across eminence development activities – idea generation, hypothesis development, research to deployment of research findings.

• Significant experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods such as primary research (consumer surveys, executive surveys/interviews), financial analysis, secondary research, data analysis, and case based research

• Experience working with research/data vendors such as DYNATA, YouGov, GLG.

• Proficient at using Excel (Macros), PowerPoint, etc. Exposure to SPSS, MarketSights, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, R, and Python will be an added advantage.

• Working knowledge of databases/market intelligence platforms such as AlphaSense, CapitalIQ, Factiva, EuroMonitor, etc.

• Experience leading/working with globally distributed teams serving US and global stakeholders

Qualifications, 

• Academic qualification: Master's Degree like MBA/CFA or equivalent qualification

• Work experience: 9-14 years with Big 4, consulting or equivalent research organizations

• Location: Hyderabad

• Work hours: 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (expected to stretch during busy periods)

• Managing relations with internal stakeholders

• Using advanced data science and survey advisory capabilities to strengthen the credibility of insights.

• Leveraging editorial and visualization capabilities to improve the impact of firm thoughtware
