Tax Senior Manager - UK Payroll EMEA

Deloitte Tax Services India Private Limited commenced operations in June 2004. Since then, nearly all of the Deloitte Tax LLP ("Deloitte Tax") U.S. service lines and regions have obtained support through Deloitte Tax in India. Deloitte Tax in India offers you opportunities to learn and support practice U.S. taxation, a much sought-after career option. In recent years, member firms, such as Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, etc. have obtained support in their tax related practice through the Deloitte Tax in India.

Deloitte Tax in Hyderabad

Deloitte Tax Services India Private Limited (“Deloitte Tax Services India”) commenced operations in Hyderabad in January 2002. Since then, our Hyderabad operations have increased year on year, affiliating to Deloitte Member Firms in several jurisdictions including the US, UK, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.

The EMEA Regional Delivery Model (RDM) for Global Employer Services (GES)

The EMEA Regional Delivery Model (RDM) is being set up in line with our 2020 strategy to establish Deloitte as the undisputed market leader in GES (a subset of Tax). The RDM will enable EMEA market wins to be highly effective client engagements providing efficient and cost-effective delivery support to UK Member Firms on an on-going basis. The RDM will achieve this through innovation, process ownership and by operating a robust consolidated delivery engine across EMEA.

An integral part of this delivery model is a consolidated EMEA Hyderabad team that will work in conjunction with nearshore centers in Europe and the European Member Firms. The Hyderabad team will be consolidated and split into service area workstreams, each led by a workstream leader (this role), under central EMEA management.

Key responsibilities: Overview:

Job Title: UK Payroll Senior Manager

An exciting opportunity for an ambitious candidate to be part of the transformation of the Global Employer Services (GES) teams in Hyderabad into a 500+ FTE organization and shape the future delivery model.

You will work with the EMEA GES Hyderabad Leader and UK stakeholders to manage and enhance current UK GES operations. You will be expected to lead the transformation projects as well.

Alongside this you will take operational responsibility for one of the key work streams delivered in Hyderabad, work stream process and efficiency oversight and be accountable for overall service delivery of the team.

Business Development & Offshore Team Growth

·       Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the UK domestic payroll business, identifying key areas for expansion and potential market opportunities.

·       Prepare and present business proposals to potential clients and stakeholders, showcasing the value proposition and unique selling points of our payroll services

·       Lead and manage the offshore payroll team, ensuring high performance, productivity, and adherence to quality standards.

·       Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the offshore team, ensuring they are equipped to handle complex payroll tasks.

·       Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, promoting continuous improvement, innovation, and a strong sense of teamwork

·       Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing regular feedback, support, and opportunities for professional growth.

·       Ensure effective communication and coordination between the onshore and offshore teams, facilitating seamless operations and information flow.

·       Supervise work stream team members to ensure that quality and service level agreements (SLAs) are maintained. Resolve or escalate any issues as they arise.

·       Support the implementation of change initiatives including the talent plan to ensure that work stream team members are developed.

·       Manage onboarding of UK GES work and process enhancement initiatives to improve operational effectiveness within the work stream.

·       Drive expansion of core services supported for the UK Member Firm.

·       Build relationships with overseas Member Firm engagement team members and nearshore service managers as well as wider Deloitte Hyderabad leadership

·       Oversee the financial management of work stream activity.

·       Monitor and respond to feedback from UK Member Firms to continuously improve services, whilst maintaining consistency across all client.

·       Mentor and coach managers, Seniors within the work stream.

·       Manage work stream materials, user guides, and processes to comply with best practices.

·       Actively lead the transformation/transition projects to expand the scope of services from UK to USI.

·       Understand our EMEA engagement team requirements and act as a leader to our team in Hyderabad.

·       Support recruitment activity

Business Impact

·       Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of payroll services.

·       Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness

·       Ensure compliance with UK payroll regulations and company policies, staying updated on any changes in legislation.

·       Manage and resolve any payroll-related issues or discrepancies, ensuring prompt and effective solutions

·       Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and concerns promptly and professionally

Eligibility criteria:

Graduation

Degree - B.Com

Professional Qualification

MBA Finance or equivalent

Work Experience

12-14 years either in a Big 4 or BPO/Shared Service Centre. Experience of working in a UK Domestic Payroll is a pre-requisite.

Skill set requirement:

·       Currently operating at Senior Manager or equivalent level, either in a Big 4 or BPO/Shared Service Centre

·       Proven experience in direct interaction with clients, assignees, and/or HMRC as required.

·       Strong team management experience and a track record of training, motivating, and retaining a team of staff

·       Experience of working in a UK Domestic Payroll is a pre-requisite.

·       Signing off moderate to complex payrolls using standard procedures.

·       Experience in other statutory activities e.g., PAYE, P11D calculations, EPS, FPS, etc.

·       Keeping track of HMRC (UK tax authority) updates and managing the set-up and coordination of the compliance process.

·       Experience of operational management, including involvement in practice financial management.

·       Monitoring of client information, including client work status and client contact details.

·       Identification and documentation of issues and preparation of client queries.

·       Managing and updating trackers and status reports for internal and external purposes.

·       Leading a team and ensuring the communications and client deliverables are carried out smoothly.

·       Providing real-time feedback to team members.

·       Training junior staff and assisting them with their technical queries.

·       Working towards developing the team and improving team efficiency.

·       Managing the workflow and ensuring that deadlines/SLAs are met.

·       Coaching individuals to help them grow in their career. Building a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

·       Exposed to transformational or change management projects either internally or for a client.

·       Experience of working with other delivery centers.

·       Keen interest in enhancement of processes across a broad range of stakeholders that exist globally

·       Extensive communication with the team regarding client status and providing feedback on client progress.

·       Managing and responding to feedback from UK Member Firms to continuously improve services.

·       Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
