Deputy Manager, Payroll Techno-Functional Consultant, Deloitte Support Services India Private Limited


We are looking for professionals with relevant experience in Payroll systems configuration, testing, and implementation. The role will provide an opportunity for suitable professionals to enhance their skills and knowledge in the Payroll systems domain by working directly with senior leadership in the Payroll and Personnel Solutions team.

Work you’ll do

As a part of this team, you will be involved with management of special projects. You will directly support specific project activities and operation tasks for unique, independent business projects. You will assist in the implementation of improved project designs and operations, measure effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of assigned projects. You will establish policies and procedures to ensure compliance with project strategies and objectives and complete special assignments and projects for senior management. You will assist the Payroll team in the upcoming implementation of new systems/projects.

Skills Required:

  • Functional Knowledge: Strong understanding of business processes and requirements, particularly in HR and HCM domains.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SAP SuccessFactors and related HR/Payroll systems
  • Experience: Demonstrated ability to handle complex configurations, testing, and support tasks, as well as coaching and transferring knowledge to business teams.
  • Business Knowledge: Proficiency in analyzing business/system requirements, managing unit, integration, and system testing, and providing end-to-end user acceptance testing support.
  • Support and Training: Capable of providing after go-live support and training to business teams, ensuring smooth transitions and effective use of systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the implementation and ongoing systems development efforts of payroll systems projects, including SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Devise and execute strategies to promote payroll projects to support business strategies and objectives.
  • Project manage the development of payroll systems features
  • Deliver day-to-day project services and provide technical counsel to project staff on the administration and support of ongoing payroll projects. This may include drafting presentations and updates, facilitating client requests for information, acting as liaison to other service areas, etc.
  • Conduct project research and data assessments to evaluate project requirements, map with project objectives, and evaluate project progress to determine if objectives are met.
  • Create interfaces, queries, tools, and reports for biweekly/monthly payroll data validation.
  • Evaluate tools for data transition and recommend the tool best suited to support the growth and system efficiency within the Firm and meet expectations of our employees.
  • Lead and support defined project plans with milestones and contingency plans as needed based on budget, timing, and business need.
  • Lead user acceptance testing, prepare gap analysis, log issues, and work on change requests, as needed.
  • Provide status updates to senior leadership

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for other Firm departments such as HR, Office of General Counsel, Technology, Payroll Taxes, Global Employer Services, Payroll Processing, India Operations, National Benefits Group, Call Center, and Global Mobility.
  • Brainstorm common issues within the team and suggest resolution plans.
  • Ensure strict compliance with PII guidelines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

The team

This position is a part of Deloitte Support Services India Pvt Ltd, within the Financial Services Group Payroll and Personnel Solutions service line. In the India paying US team, the responsibilities assigned are in support of special projects required to build efficiency & effectiveness of the processes and usage & transition to new technology-driven platforms.


Qualifications Required:

  • Graduate/postgraduate in any stream.
  • Advanced knowledge in SAP, SuccessFactors, and SmartSheet desired.
  • Sound understanding of payroll systems configuration, integration, and testing.
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, MS Teams).
  • Integrity and high ethical standards and commitment to maintaining data privacy.
  • Ability to identify complex issues related to non-standard transactions and processes and develop solutions to address relevant situations.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, high-pressure, client and metrics-driven work environment.
  • Effective communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to details, multitask, organize work, document, report concisely, and drive projects.
