Deputy Manager– Payroll Accounting and Statutory Compliance activities - Deloitte Consulting India Private Limited

Job Description:
Primary:
· Reviewing of payroll entries for both Regular payroll and Full and Final settlement in SAP S/4 HANA.
· Analyzing the reconciliation of business expense reimbursement payments and approving schedules for payment processing on weekly basis for US and India offices
· Reviewing Amortization and balance-sheet accruals on a periodic basis.
· Monitoring and approving monthly accounting closure activities for payroll and benefits in SAP ledgers, including reconciling and balancing of payroll accounts in SAP ledgers.
· Responsible for timely remittances and filing of returns of all government statutory requirements such as EPF, PT, TDS, LWF, ESIC. Handling notices received from these authorities.
· Assisting the internal stakeholders in Audit / Tax Compliance and Financial Reporting.
· Analyze payroll transactions for appropriate classification and compliance with generally accepted accounting standards and Deloitte accounting policy.
· Stay updated about the latest amendments/developments in Taxation, Provident Fund, Payroll related guidelines/ circulars issued by the Governing authorities.
· To be well versed with latest accounting, Payroll, and compliance related guidelines.
· Ensuring all team members have up-to-date knowledge of current Payroll policies, creating Process documents and procedures to ensure each process in Accounting and Compliance is correctly documented.
· Assist with continuous improvement in accounting and compliance related process.
· Managing and reviewing team members’ performances and guiding them as and when required.
Secondary:
- Reviewing the stakeholders’ inputs collated by team members to ensure those were collected timely and accurately.
- Need to ensure team members are responding to various payroll inquiries from employees and other stakeholders as per the timelines defined.
- Flag exceptions observed in the payroll inputs and ensure these are considered in-line with firm policies and guidelines.
- Reviewing periodic reporting for leadership and other stake holders
- Ensure strict compliance to PII guidelines.
Work Location: Hyderabad
Shift Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM

This position is a part of Deloitte Consulting India Pvt Ltd, within the Financial Services Group – Payroll and Personnel Solutions service line. In the India paying India team, the responsibilities assigned are in support of India Payroll activities of the Deloitte India offices across four locations - Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai Gurgaon, and Kolkata.
Qualifications Required:
- Graduate/postgraduate in accounting.
- Experience in India and US payroll accounting.
- Position requires strong team handling, analytical skills, ability to multi-task, strong attention to details and accuracy and proficiency in the use of systems, including Microsoft suite of applications and SAP.
- Ability to manage a team of 8-12 members and handle supervisory tasks such as providing feedback, performance management, capacity utilization and allocation of resources.
- Knowledge of auditing and internal control standards.
- Experience in SAP S/4 HANA (will be an added advantage).
- Effective Communication skills.
- 8 - 10 years of relevant work experience.
- 2 to 3 years of team handling experience.
- Advanced computing skills including word-processing and MS-office especially MS-Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in India payroll processing, data maintenance, accounting & regulatory compliances.
- Knowledge of India tax and statutory compliances
- Proven ability to prioritize and work within strict and challenging timelines.
- Advance experience in accounting, analysis, and management reporting
- Good understanding of business terminology, business operations, and financial policies and internal controls.
- Integrity and high ethical standards and commitment to maintaining data privacy.
- Ability to identify complex issues related to non-standard transactions and processes and develop solutions to address relevant situations.
