Position Summary

Job Title: Data Governance – Manager

Location: Any

Job Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and execute Data Governance framework, develop / enhance data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, consistency, etc. across business functions.
  • Manage and oversee maturity assessments for data management / data governance capabilities and identify gaps & recommendations and build implementation roadmaps.
  • Drive data management initiatives including setting up and monitoring of data governance programs and coordinating with different teams/business units. Report to executive management on the progress, risks, and outcomes of initiatives.
  • Define DG Org structure, and roles & responsibilities / RACI (Data Steward, Data Custodian, Data Owner, Producers and Consumers, etc.)
  • Build and oversee Stewardship and Interaction models and ensure clear accountability for data ownership and stewardship.
  • Strong understanding of Data Landscape (data flows, data lineage, CDEs, Data domains etc.)
  • Manage and oversee development of data quality rules, identifying data quality issues, and working with stakeholders for remediation planning.
  • Manage and oversee development and enhancement of DQ dashboards and deliver periodic status updates on data quality.
  • Strong understanding of Metadata Mgmt. and MDM/RDM concepts and processes (creation, curation, update and change mgmt., etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Data Catalog, Business Glossary and/or Data Dictionary (understands data definitions and associated best practices)
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to improve data governance awareness and practices across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data regulations (eg: GDPR, CCPA) and internal data policies.
  • Knowledge of industry leading DG tools (Collibra, Alation etc.) and DQ tools (SAP IS, Informatica/IDQ etc.). Preferably also awareness of MDM tools
  • Strong understanding of Data Risk Taxonomy (Types, Sub-types)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a data governance or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of data governance practices, management of information assets, data management regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership in setting up and executing data governance programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the ability to create visually compelling and professional presentations, and the ability to effectively present findings /information to diverse audience.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of banking and regulatory processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in information management or related field.
  • Experience working on data governance tools.
  • Data Management related certifications

Prior experience in any/all the below areas is preferred:

  • Working for financial services consulting firm, a large bank or financial institution

·        Data Governance / Data management experience in Banking/capital markets domain
